This a brilliant location for mountain biking and generally relaxing, but we expected more from the price and from the picture painted by the website. Our bunkbarn was reasonably equipped with 8 beds, 2 showers, one private loo and another next door. It also had it's own lounge area and a nice veranda with wood burning stove. Sounds great, but everything was dirty, the toilet walls ran with condensation so that the floor was wet through, the veranda was overgrown and not remotely condusive to sitting on and there was a dirty pair of pants hanging in the shower room! The showers were at least hot, but nowhere to hang clothing, towels etc within reach of showers.
We were also disappointed with the kitchen facilities which were dirty and messy when we arrived (probably due to large group in rather than owners). Bins/recycling facilities inadequate and nowhere to leave bags of food except work surfaces. Website states that a second kitchen has been provided so that self-caterers have space when owner is catering, but it seemed that all the utensils, pots, pans, plates etc were in the catering kitchen and we kept having to go and retrieve things from the other kitchen! As there was a large group being catered for at the table, we had to eat off our knees on the sofa. Another pair were on folding chairs in the kitchen eating off their knees. Seems a bit unfair that campers can get preferential use of the facilities like this when we were paying premium rates for the bunkbarns.
We took all our own food, as we are used to doing in bunkbarns, though there were many things provided. Perhaps the price reflects the fact that there is tea/coffee/cereal etc, but I wouldn't want to rely on them-some of the jams etc available were full of mould.
Hot tub is a nice addition, the woodland camping does look nice, but we would not stay here again at the prices charged. £12-£14 seems more appropriate or we would pay an extra £5 pppn and stay in a b&b with clean facilites, private rooms and breakfast included!
