“Perfect Hosts”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

My partner and I spent Hogmanay and New Year in Dumfries, staying in the Ferintosh for 2 nights and I can not rate Emma and Robertson's hospitality high enough. We travelled by train and found Ferintosh literally across the road from the station. We were met by Robertson who welcomed us and showed us to our room which was bright and spacious, the bed was large and beautifully made and we had a lovely view of the garden.
Our door key allowed us to sneak in at about 2 am on New Year's morning where we toasted a great start to 2012 with our complimentary dram which warmed us up from the inside out. We had a very comfortable night's sleep before having a slighter later breakfast (due to the time of year) which suited us. The cooked breakfast was perfectly cooked to order (you have to decide what you would like the night before but I preferred this as I knew what to look forward to) and saw us through to dinner time.
On the day of our departure we asked for a later check-out (12 pm instead of 10 am and only £10 extra) as our train home didn't leave until 2 while Emma very kindly let us sit in the dining room until it was time to leave, rather than us wandering around town in the cold. She even offered us tea/coffee while we waited and joined in some interesting and entertaining discussions. I particularly liked the sound of their Kilted Pub Crawl as I'm sure anyone visiting would enjoy it considering the number of pubs in Dumfries!
We had a wonderful stay and I would thoroughly recommend The Ferintosh due to Emma and Robertson's hospitality and understanding of their guests' needs.
I should also mention the box sitting next to the TV, to be placed in front of the TV's standby light at night, as I thought this was a brilliant gesture especially as the light was exceptionally bright. A very thoughtful touch.

Room Tip: As far as I could tell, all of the rooms were of the same very high standard.

“Wonderful Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 November 2011

Very cozy and welcoming environment. We arrived wet and cold after a long train ride from Edinburgh. Robertson was excellent in helping us with our things and suggesting places to eat and things to see. The room was beautifully decorated and the bed was comfy! Complimentary whisky each day, as well as tea and cookies! Breakfast was excellent, cooked as they say "by a man in a kilt"! Large portions that really get your ready for your day. Emma and Robertson really went out of their way to make us feel welcome. I would absolutely recommend a stay with Ferintosh, I know we will again one day too.

“I didn't want to leave.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2011

The Ferintosh is an outstanding B&B, probably the best in Scotland. Emma and Robertson are fantastic hosts and really makes you feel like home. Complementary drams on in the room and exelent Scottish breakfast makes your stay even better. I will most certainly come back to Ferintosh.

“It Doesn't Get Any Better Than This!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2011

Arriving weary, tired and hungry, Robertson welcomed us to his wonderful establishment and showed us to our beautifully decorated, clean and comfortable room. Once we'd freshened up, he gave us directions to several fabulous local eateries, which were easy to locate and truly magificent fare was devoured.
After a pleasant stroll around the town, we headed back to our room and enjoyed a couple of cuppas, and chose our breakfast, before sinking into our comfy bed.
Robertson's breakfasts are legendary! Cooked to perfection and served at your table at your requested time - and all superb locally sourced produce! The plate's groan under the weight of the food! The first time I stayed at Ferintosh, I wasn't prepared for the size of the breakfast and was unable to finish my breakfast! I imagined it would be a "normal" breakfast, but no! Once you have eaten one of Robertson's breakfasts, you won't need anything else to eat until tea time! Delicious!
If you are struggling to find somewhere to visit during the day, Robertson has an array of maps and books and a wealth of local knowledge to help you to decide.
All this and dogs are welcomed too!
We have stayed in many hotels and B & B's all over the country, but this is the BEST! Which is one of the reasons why we continue to return again and again, and we found most of the guests staying at the same week as us, were in fact, returning for the umteenth time.
You won't find a better B & B - we know - we've looked!

Room Tip: We have stayed in all the rooms at Robertson's, they are all fantastic!
