Me and a mate have just stayed at the Dalston House Hotel for an Easter weekend of beer, food, and football. From the first arrival til the last goodbye, the staff and family who run the place were very friendly and relaxed. Every effort is made to make you feel at home. The rooms are fine for the cost, clean and functional. The bar and dining area are very superior in decor and layout, for a small hotel. There is plenty of secure parking at the front and rear of the hotel. You are given a front door key in case you wish to return at 3 in the morning from a club etc. The decor is very attractive throughout. The food was fine, breakfasts, lunches and evening meals are all available with a home-cooking feel. This hotel made the weekend for us, it was sad to leave, and i expect to return. Many thanks to the family who run it for a warm stay - look no further than this one if you want a friendly, comfortable, relaxing stay in Dumfries....5 minutes walk to the football ground, 5 minutes walk to the centre of the town, and 2 minutes walk to the wonderful river. If you have ever been to Llangollen, Chester, etc you will feel right at home in this town, with good shops, restaurants, river, and friendly people. A+++++++++

Our Annual Golfing trip to Dumfries was even better this year thanks to the friendly and flexible attitude of the proprietor and his staff. The food is good the service fast and efficient. Their is a nice relaxed atmosphere seldom found in other premium hotels. We will definitely be using the Dalston again next year, I cant wait!

I cant understand the attitude of the fawlty towers comment above?
Perhaps Mr. Anonymous is just a rival hotelier with an axe to grind!
