“You get what you pay for”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 October 2011

people found this review helpful

The title says it all.

It is hard to absolutely slate a hotel having paid only £19 for 2 people to stay in a family room for the night.

Good points: friendly staff, clean rooms and sheets and although on the main A75 trunk route quiet enough to get a good nights sleep.

Not so good points: tired and mouldy bathrooms and not enough pillows

“First green eco roof in Dumfries?”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 September 2011

This has to rank as one of the shabbiest Travelodges in the UK.....stuck behind a run down Little Chef with a road surface that was good in Roman times the aspect of the place turns you off immediatley as the roof gutters are full of growing shrubs and weeds and this indicates straightaway that maintenance of any sort is low on the list of priorities. Internally the fabric is worn out and despite some attempts to keep the place clean it is way past its sell by date. Don't stay for a holiday.....this is a one nighter if there's nowhere else.

“Clean & tidy and value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 August 2011

Stayed for 4 nights and it met our requirements. It is basic but clean so what more can you ask for especially at the price. Very quiet if you have a room at the back.

Room Tip: Upstairs at the rear for a quiet time

“What can you expect for £19.00 room per night.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 August 2011

A clean and tidy Travelodge, with friendly and helpful staff. I needed another pillow and none were available at reception. They were very helpful and provided a rolled single duvet in a pillow case, which I found good enough for me. We stayed here away from the motorway, when travelling north to the Outer Hebrides. We also enjoyed a meat free breakfast at Morrissons, and refuelled the car there too. We were able to get to both the Travelodge and Morrissons without having to go through the major roadworks in Dumfries town centre.
We only use Travelodge when offers are available, we are easy going, but always complain when necessary, and have always had our complaints resoved on site.

“Clean and Comfortable”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 August 2011

Usual Travelodge facilities, clean and comfortable but in need of a refurbishment. No spare pillows to be had but staff provided a folded duvet as a substitute.

Room Tip: Just off the A75 so rooms at the back are quieter. Little Chef on site + petrol station.
