“Would move in permanently”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 December 2011

The ambience of The Glen, if bottled, would sell millions.Returned yesterday after a two night stay and would happily of stayed longer.Prior reviews about the food are spot on, the chef would not be out of place catering in a 5* restaurant.Dined in both nights and the quality and quantity of the food was superb, best meals eaten out in many a year. How this restaurant is not booked out each night with locals is a mystery. Our room(no 9), was very roomy, well equipped and nicely decorated,(I loved the tartan carpet) and looked into the side garden. Piping hot water in an instant and the radiators plotting too. It was great being able to take our dog Poppy with us, and the hotel is literally a 2 minute walk down to the riverside walk path so all happy.Would wholeheartedly recommend this family hotel for a break and even if passing near by, stop for a meal, you will not be disappointed.

Room Tip: Room 9 large with 3 x 3 ft beds in.Towards back of the hotel so quiet, but still nice view.Ensuite q...

My husband & I got back today from a 2 night stay in this hotel. As it was a small hotel we were hoping that it would be O.K. We could not have been happier with it. It states it is animal friendly but more important it is also people friendly. The meals were cooked by the proprietor and were as good as any we have had in top priced hotels. lThe wine was very reasonably priced and warming welcoming fires were in the hall and bar. The proprietor and his wife were friendly and chatty and nothi;ng was too much trouble for the waitress. Our room was large ,spotlessly clean and cosy even though Thursday was one of the coldest days for years; the bathroom was spotless. and the water piping hot. It was in a quiet position with parking in the grounds yet it was only about a 10 min. walk from the centre of Selkirk.

Room Tip: We had a wee peek in four rooms and they were all very good.

“Excellent Place to Stay in Selkirk”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 November 2011

We stayed here for the second time whilst fishing on the Tweed last month. The accommodation is very pleasant and comfortable and Steve and Anoinette are excellent hosts.
The food is very good and the breakfast's are excellent.

It is very close to all the main Tweed beats on the upper part of the Tweed and is a very convenient

“Hidden Gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 November 2011

Just back from this lovely hotel where the staff made us very welcome. The hotel appears to be in the midst of refurbishment, not affecting our stay but noticable by the fresh appearance of some area compared to others. Having been to various hotels across the country, I can honestly say that the food here is of a standard matching that of many high market resturants.

Would definitely return, if only for a night in the hotel, nice lounge area for relaxing after your meal.

Selkirk itself was pretty quite, but plenty other towns nearby.

We got a fantastic deal from Groupon and couldn't have been happier. The room was clean and comfortable and the food was gorgeous home cooked fayre. The added bonus for us was the gorgeous Wiemarana having a snooze infront of the fire. The lady who runs it with her husband is a lovely chatty lady and made you feel right at home. Highly recommended. We visited Melrose Abbey while on our visit and it only took about 15 mins to get there. Gorgeous place.
