Lovely hotel very nicely restored and with a trendy edge which doesn't take away from the building at all. The town is also lovely. We ate dinner the night we stayed and the food and service was excellent. The breakfast was fine but when we asked if we might have a vegetarian version of the cooked breakfast i.e just take off the meat....they literally did just that. It would have been nice to have been given say an extra egg etc. Especially as the woman on the next table who WAS having the full cooked breakfast was asked just after us whether she wanted more than one egg!! A minor quibble and I would stay here again.

We booked this hotel for a two night break. The room (upgraded on arrival to superior) was excellent; I have paid a lot more for smaller suites! We ate in the Brasserie. We have already recommended this hotel to friends and look forward to a return visit ourselves.

This hotel is an absolute gem; Melrose is in the heart of the most undervalued and underappreciated part of Scotland. This hotel is as welcoming, comfortable and as good as any you will find in it's class.

Staff were thoroughly charming - special mention to the lovely young ladies in the bar/restaurant, and to the helpful and informative management who positively added to our stay.

Food is great - room was delightful. A1 overall.
