“WARNING: Thrown out in the pouring rain after a tirade of foul language.”

Travelled to Hawick on a business trip and was booked in to Hizzy's by company travel agent.

- Although the agent had pointed out that I may not arrive until 11pm when booking, I was unable to gain access to the property for over half an hour desipite arriving by 10.15pm. I stood outside in the pouring rain unable to contact anyone - either by banging on the door or on the phone number provided (I could hear it ringing inside).
- After a great deal of persistence, an probably waking up half the neighbourhood with the banging, I was greeted by an elderly, drunken man in his pyjamas.
- After complaining about the situation, I was responded to with a stream of foul language and told to leave the property.
- At 11pm I therefore had to find alternative accommodation in a small Scottish town - not easy but thankfully I found another guest house with a vacancy nearby.

This guest house has now been black listed by our company travel agent.

“Great, Family Run Guesthouse”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 September 2008

We stayed at Hizzy's guest house with two other couples. The rooms at the moment are not en-suite (they had materials on site to start converting all the rooms once the bank holiday weekend was over). To over come this, they gave each couple their own floor, so they did,t have to share a bathroom. This was ok till the other room on your floor was rented out.
The rooms were very clean and comfortable. In every room there was everything from an iron,to hair dryers and straighteners and even shoe shining kits. Tea and coffee were also provided. Each room also had a tv and dvd player, and there were plenty of films to watch if you wanted.
Breakfast was huge, cooked fresh for whatever time you requested. There was plenty of choice, including vegetarian and Scottish.
Frankie and Amanda, were lovely, and couldn't do enough for you.
Hizzy's is situated at the end of Hawicks main street, so is ideally situated from all the local shops and bars. Opposite is an Indian restaurant (which was very nice) and a chinese cafe. The chinese was exceptional value, a four course set meal for £8. Ok so the place isn't the Ritz (the formica tables were a give away) but the food was excellent. There was something on the menu for all tastes (there was no vegetarian meals on the evening menu, but there was on the lunch time one, so i am sure a bit of negotiating could be done). By the time we had waded through all the courses we were truly stuffed.
All in all, our stay in Hawick was great, we would definitely go back to Hizzy's (as long as the rooms are en suite now ),

“Quirky B&B in Hawick”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 July 2008

As part of the Borders Abbeys Way, a group of friends chose to stay at this very comfortable B&B. Despite it being a miserable, wet day (typical British summer), we were delighted to stay at this very spacious accommodation run by a friendly family. Hizzy's is dedicated to the memory of a local motor biker, Steve Hislop (see web-site). There were therefore memorabilia of his short career, around the property.
All the rooms contain a double bed and a single bed. It was therefore fantastic for the single travellers amongst us to learn that we would be charged according to the bed slept in, i.e. no single supplement.
An added bonus was Mikey's room. A surprise guest was included in his tariff (see photo)!
Another bonus was the handy array of room accessories...iron, ironing board, playing cards, show shine kit, hair drier, although their taste in occasional tables is dubious...
The owners were so welcoming, we felt part of the family - you definitely need a sense of humour; the breakfast guide is a masterpiece!
Hizzy's is close to a wide range of eateries: Indian, Italian, chippie, etc. The Indian (Shebab) was particularly good and very popular with the locals.
