“Looking forward to going back”

This was originally a find from the internet not Trip Advisor.

We booked for 3 days initially and then headed off to Mull, after 2 nights on our original stay (we thought the first may have been a little too good to be true) we decided to book in for 3 more days on our return. The owners have renovated the house into an amazing B&B, and then made sure a great place is backed up with exceptional service and hospitality, I think I caught my better half talking to the owners at least twice a day - I expected her to announce that she was renting a room permanently after the second stay.

The attention to detail is amazing and the price was even better - we stayed in places twice the price that had good ratings on trip Advisor that I would not even give half the rating of this place to. Bathrooms stocked with Argyll bathroom products - we ended in Inverloch at a shop that sold these - good quality and expensive (The bath salts were the better halfs pick), breakfasts so carefully prepared I would believe it if you told me they get laid out using a template, proper cotton sheets and ironed pillow cases and a serious crease in the ironed table cloth - yes, its the little things (and its the husband who irons - see we do try to help).

The place is quiet due to thick walls, and unfortunately this means the wireless internet is best in the reception area, but as with all things, by looking for a place for dinner on the web other guests came by to do the same thing and we got a recommendation for the Seafood Temple, who says talking to people is old fashioned. The owners also helped with us organize bike rentals and suggested a few places to ride, all of which were great (except it kept on raining). It was a place you didn't want to leave (yes the weather was very bad on some days) and a place you felt at home in.

Both stays were on the ground floor in room 1, no noise from guests above or others arriving, both stays were in Oct 2011.

So this is 1 of 3 places I have written up from our trip (only 2 restaurants and one B&B in 30 days), it was a cut above the rest.

Room Tip: We stayed on the ground floor in room 1 with views over the harbour on both our stays, all rooms wer...

“Wonderfully welcoming”

We stayed at Heatherfirld House for one night... our first night in Scotland. We could not have wished for a warmer welcome. The guesthouse is beautifully decorated, clean and cosy. Breakfast was fantastic, by far the nicest we had on our five day trip. We were the only two people staying and would never have expected so much attention from Gary and Sue. They recommended Coast in Oban for dinner and it was truly beautiful. We would definitely go back to Heatherfield House, and hopefully will one day!

“a great stay”

we stayed here for a weekend. I think it was room 2. Lovely, bright and very clean room. Nice bathroom with roll top bath and nice local shampoos etc.

Bed was very comfortable and there was a tea tray with cookies and lots of tea & coffee. The house was very nice and they have renovated it very well.

As breakfast was between 8 and 9, I didnt go for it but my husband did and said that the homemade sausage and their own eggs were great. There was a wide selection of other things available and i think that they will give you a packed breakfast if you need to leave early.

Gary was very nice and met us when we arrived. He also gave me a hold of one of the chickens that live in the garden!!

The B&B is 5 minutes walk from the centre of Oban, so really central. I highly reccommend it!

“Even better the second time!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 October 2011

My wife & I visited Heatherfield House for the second time and stayed for 2 nights in Room 1 on the Ground Floor which is a very spacious superior double room with well appointed en-suite bathroom, and seaviews. We weren't disappointed - far from it - and if anything the standards have risen since our last visit.
Gary has recently refurbished one of the bathrooms upstairs and the whole of Room 1 that we occupied added to which he & Sue now have a few Orpington chickens to keep their existing Blackrocks company and Gary is also making his own sausages from pigs on nearby Kerrera Island!
We had a very relaxing stay and will definitely return - keep up the good work!

“Just what you want a B&B to be”

We spent one night here and would definitely stay again! This would be a good place to base yourself and do day trips. Lovely old house looking out over Oban and its harbor; my room was adorable, and oh-so-comfortable! The hosts are lovely, without being intrusive. There are stairs, but Gary was quite helpful with taking luggage up and down. There is parking alongside the house (not always something available at the Scottish B&Bs.)

Room Tip: My room had a double bed and ensuite bathroom with a shower. My friend had a double bed with an ensu...
