“Beautiful beautiful Oban”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 December 2010

I have to admit driving up that narrow hill, I wasn't sure when I was going to find the guest house. The weather didn't look too inviting either, but yeah! Off street parking! I have to admit, if the parking area was full, parking on the street would have been quite difficult.

Louise was very welcoming and my single room was super tiny. Completely immaculate including the shower head (I love detail) . The bed looked and was very welcoming. The decor definitely brightened up the tiny space of 2.5m x 5m. The room was located underneath the stairs, which only bothered me when I noticed that as people walked up the stairs, the wooden floor boards would creak. Quite well equipped for the tiny space, and there were even cotton buds - yeah! I had run out :) Can't go wrong with little luxuries.

I wasn't in the best of moods, and had a long day and to top it all off, I had lost my suitcase key. Louise was wonderful enough to try and pick it, and Louise's husband eventually sawed it off. It was late and it really was lovely of them to help me, but what really got to me was that they actually persevered.

Louise was lovely with dinner suggestions and shortcuts walking down that hill. Breakfast was lovely as well. Not the best value, but still comfortable.

“A home from home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 August 2010

My husband and I stayed at the Glenroy for 2 nights as a last minute get away. This was the second time we stayed at the guest house and on both occasions we had a very enjoyable stay. The owners were very friendly and down to earth and nothing was a problem. The first time we had a large ensuite room on the first floor which was very nice. The second time, as the guest house was full, we were offered the 'wee room' on the top floor' which was cheaper the the normal rate. The wee room turned out to be a good size, with a wonder ful view across the bay. It had a an ensuite shower room, TV, tea/coffee making facilities, hiar dryer and even a set of binoculars. There were losts of. little extras like toiletries etc. Breakfast was excellent with a choice of cereals, fruit, yoghurt, porridge and a fantastic full Scottish breakfast which kept us going all day! I would highly recommend the guest house to anyone. The rates are very competitive and the acommodation is spotlessly clean. There is also a car park to the side of the house. The only downside is that it may not be suitable for people with walking difficulties as there is a steep hill to climb to reach the guest house, however there is a lovely view and the location is very quiet. Overall we had a great stay!

“Very friendly hosts”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 August 2010

We were instantly greeted with a very warm welcome and made to feel at home. The room was very clean and had the basic amenities you would expect. Although the actual size of the room was probably the smallest out of any B&B's we have stayed at. It was still comfortable and cosy. It has a good location. The breakfast was great. Probably a little bit more expensive for what we got, compared to other places we stayed at during our time in Scotland.

“A very good value guest house”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2009

I was greeted and immediately made very welcome and felt 'at home' and helped in with my luggage. I stayed in the single room and it was clean, comfortable and had everything I needed. I think this guest houses strongest qualities were their genuine attitude, to help in any way they could and the way it was so well kept. I had breakfast on a tray as I had to leave very early and was very pleased with it. I hope to be able to stay there again next time I come to Oban.
