“Not worthy of Best Western badge!!”

Charlieandannie's review sums up our experience at this hotel. It started OK when we organized dinner over email as we were late driving into Oban, but when we arrived it all went downhill. We immediately sat down to eat and were served by a very helpful and attentive young Scottish girl who tried her best, although some Kleenex wouldn't have gone amiss as the poor thing had a terrible cold and sniffed constantly. The food was average and when we requested to have our dessert in our room, the manageress brought the desserts on a tray and left them on our table to take up ourselves, presumably with all our luggage!! When we asked if we can have this in our room, she pointed at the food and asked, 'you want me to take this to your room?' to which my partner replied, 'um, yes, that's normally how it works'. With a huff she collected the tray, explaining that the dessert would spoil if we didn't eat it immediately, but obviously the entire meal was preordered so they could get us out of the restaurant as soon as possible and pack up. To top it all off the shower head was broken so my partner had to request another room in which to shower the following morning! Overall, this hotel should be avoided as there are plenty of other guest houses in Oban and Best Western should review their association.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your stay at our hotel. The team and I are most disappointed that the experience did not meet your expectations.

Please accept our sincere apologies. We regret to read that you found the cuisine average but pleased to note that our waitress was attentive. We have conducted an investigation and found that there was a serious miss-communication in that our waitress had thought that you wanted to take the desserts up to your room yourself, as opposed to asking us to provide room service at an additional cost. We can only apologise.

With regard to the shower head holder again we are very sorry. Room maintenance issues are rectified immediately if possible and if not an alternative room will be provided.

Thank you again for bringing your experiences to my attention. Once again, please accept my apologies.

“BELEIVE WHAT YOU READ....”

I'TS TRUE THIS IS THE WORST BEST WESTERN WE HAVE STAYED IN...
There is no such thing as WI FI throught the buliding...Don't let them tell you it's not working because of the atmosphere !!!!!
Both the main buidling and the budget rooms out the back are old and tired,.dispite staying on the top floor of the back buicling we experianced creeky floors/unsealed windows/no water pressure(dispite boiler on same floor) and when it rained the roof leaked dripping water down the rooms backwall cavity... the lift is very noisy and thumps when it comes to a stop.. But to top it all off the Management is extremely rude, when asking a simple question of the staff about the wi-fi problem the managers wife gave me "the hand" in my face!!!!!....
I feel this hotel really lets down the standard of the Best Western Trademark.

Room Tip: stay at another hotel...plenty in the same street

Thank you for reviewing our property on Trip Advisor.

All feedback is taken seriously and lessons learned where possible. We are really sorry that you consider our hotel to be the worst Best Western.

Our WIFI service was indeed malfunctioning on the night of your stay. I can only apologise for telling you the facts of the situation, which were that the service was interrupted by very poor atmospheric conditions. After the night in question, we contacted our WIFI service provider regarding your complaint about the WIFI service. Once again, they assured us that the WIFI is subject to both atmospheric conditions and the number of other users of the service making downloads at any one time. “The hand” that you referred to was actually a sign of mute appeal in a distressing situation and not meant to antagonise. We apologise for any misunderstanding caused.

Furthermore, during your stay the area was being battered by some of the worst storms experienced this century. We are sorry that you considered the accommodation not up to the conditions.

Thank you once again for your review.

“surpassed all expectations”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 December 2011

booked via the internet and chose the cheapest deal in Oban so wasn't really expecting too much .
However, i've got to say that this was one of the best hotels i have ever stayed in. couldn't fault any part of my one night stay,,,,, the hotel is spotlessly clean and the furniture and decor appeared to be new, the staff were friendly and helpful, the evening meal wasn't cheap but worth every penny (the bar meals were cheaper and the menu was extensive). The full Scottish breakast and the view from the restaurant accross the bay was a perfect way to start a day.
This was a business trip so only there for a day but plan to return for a few leisurely days next year

“Single room rather small but at £45 per night including breakfast it was worth it, food lacking in vegetarian options”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 November 2011 via mobile

Staff helpfull, room small but clean, had a jacuzzi in bath very relaxing after a days work most welcome. Drinks expensive, breakfast good but not the cleanest I've experienced. All that said would stay here again for business visit.

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel with Trip Advisor.

All feedback is taken extremely seriously and used when necessary to address training needs.

We are in the process of changing our spirit measures from 35ml to the normal 25ml. The large servings have given the impression that our drinks are expensive whilst they are actually in line with other local establishments.

We are glad that you would consider returning to our hotel. Your comments about breakfast have been passed on to the team and further training taken place.

Thank you again for reviewing our property.

“Food is excellent. Always clean and tidy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 November 2011 via mobile

I have stayed at the Queens hotel many times over the last 3 years due to work commitments. Staff always professional and polite. Food is excellent. Rooms always clean and tidy but can be on the small side (if you are on holiday i guess you spend as little time as poss in the room) due to the recession my work have decided to downsize my allocation to a cheaper alternative. Sadly i wont be back to the Queens. I have stayed locally in many other hotels but non have got close to matching the Queens for comfort or the quality of the food.
