I booked this hotel then read the reviews and was really put off. I spoke to a lady called Margaret and she was really helpful and reassured me so I decided to go with the booking and even booked an extra night !!! The room was lovely and clean as was the bathroom, the food and services was very good and all the staff were most helpful and friendly :) I would def go back again.

Upon arrival we were greeted by the freindly receptionist who quickly checked us in and directed us to our rooms. She also gave us information about the food available at the hotel when we asked and information about the spa treatments available. Our room was at the back of the hotel which was great as it was quiet and was a great size with an enormous bed! It had everything you could expect from a three star hotel and to be honest in my opinion was of a 4 star standard. The bathroom was well appointed and the shower was great which was pleasing considering most hotels i've stayed in don't have very good showers. The general decor of the hotel was lovely and the public areas especially were relaxing and comfortable - areas you could happily sit in for hours. The hotel manages to pull off a look that has scottish influence but is not twee - something that has to be commended! The food was excellent and the menu had quite a lot of choice. I often find that with large chain hotels their menus are boring and expensive but I have to say that the Oban bay's menu was neither. It seemed to have a good balance of dishes and locally sourced produce was on the menu too which was pleasing. It really was of a higher standard than you would expect and having eaten in a 4 star restaurant the day before I can say that the Oban bay beat it hands down. VisitScotland should give this Hotel a 4 star rating immediately! Another thing that should be mentioned is the spa. I hadn't been to one before but the therapist talked me through the treatments available and I opted for a massage while my partner opted for a facial. I hadn't ever had a spa treatment before and was apprehensive but was put at ease and found it a struggle to stay awake I was so relaxed. Definitely will be using that spa again. Also something that I feel should be mentioned is that the views (from the public areas) are unrivalled. Great location. All in all a hotel that we will definitely be using again and again.

I stayed here for business in early February and found the hotel to be clean, comfortable and quiet could have been the time of year. The room I stayed in was recently renovated with contempory fittings. Could perhaps have used another light fitting to make it brighter, good all the same. The location is silightly out of town but a shirt walk gets you to the main centre. Overall quite a good place to stay. the room information could have done with an update as it was still advertising Christmas!

Booked hotel using discount voucher with meal, breakfast and bottle of wine. No parking at hotel however free parking just outside. Room was fine although overlooking bins which was rectified by shutting the curtains and getting out into the fresh air in Oban. Sampled the steam room and hot tub which was great considering the hotel was busy we got it to ourselves. Sauna was out of order which was disappointing and I had asked when we checked in at 2.30pm whether steam/sauna/hot tub were all okay to use and had been told yes. Went for a fantastic dinner and the wine was lovely. Staff were pleasant and approachable. Considering our stay was on a discount voucher we were very pleased with everything at the hotel. Only gripe was that we were charged an additional £14 for staying on a Saturday which we were not aware of beforehand.
