I stayed here for one night, but it was very nice! The staff was friendly, the other guests were friendly, Oban was friendly - it was great! The beds are huge and my room had a large sunny window. The only problem was that the bathrooms are at the bottom of the stairs, showers are mid-way up the stairs, and bedrooms are at the top of the stairs. I'm pretty lazy, so that was a little annoying for me, but other that than, it was great! I would stay there again if I ever go back to Oban.
Also, I got my laundry done - washed, dried, folded for 4 pounds!

The 'dream hostel experience' started on booking. Simple, on-line booking and very clearly stated receipt outlining the date of booking and the services on offer. This hostel includes bedding, towels, breakfast and hot drinks! Easy to find (signposts on the main street) once in Oban and reception very friendly. We booked a private room and it was very clean and comfortable. It even had a sea view from the window. The bathroom facilities were very clean with the showers and shower cubicles new. The kitchen was also very clean and there was a massive choice of herbs/condiments, breakfast supplies and tea/coffee/hot choc. It reminded me of the best, friendliest student houseshare! There was a safe courtyard for our bikes, and plenty of maps and information about the area. There was a list of recommended things to see in Oban, and we did one of them - watched the sunset over the bay from McCaigs Tower. I stayed in 10 different hostels on my tour of Scotland and this was my favourite. Can't recommend it enough.

We stayed at the Oban Backpackers Plus for two nights last week, and were pleasantly suprised at the standards at this economy hostel. The place was clean and the staff were very welcoming and courteous. The room was spacious enough, and at £45 per night for two people, was excellent value. Good heating, first class showers, generous free breakfast, coffee, tea, juices, freshly baked scones and cakes, and muesli bars all provided.

The hostel itself is only 50 metres from the Oban beachfront, and there are numerous places to eat within a few minutes. I like Oban, and the Backpackers plus was ideal for our needs.
