You sometimes read a review of a place and wonder whether it really can be that good. Rudha-Na-Craige is. I's owners, Howard and Susan, are fantastic hosts. The rooms are excellent. Howard and Susan really are fabulous for sharing local knowledge and suggesting places to visit and routes to take to see the most of the area. They are generous too - no skimping on the breakfasts and plenty of supplies in the room! On arrival Howard brewed us up some coffee and put out some biscuits for us, which was very much appreciated after the drive out. Lots of personal, friendly touches are what makes this place really special.
The location is fabulous, a great base to start from if you want to venture further down into Argyll, but not too long a drive out from Glasgow either. With the breathtaking views of "Rest and Be Thankful" on the way to and from Inveraray, this is certainly a trip worth making if you only have a few days in Scotland and this would be the ideal place to stay. We visited very much out of the main tourist season, but there was still plenty to do.
The owners have organised guest membership for the spa/pool/sauna/steam room at the Loch Fyne hotel and spa next door (a two minute walk up the road) which is open from 7am-7pm. So, you get the perks of a major hotel, but with the personal touches of a b&b. Rudha-Na-Craige is certainly one of those b&b's that you stay in and wonder, 'Will we get anywhere as good as this again?'
