“NO SENSE OF HOSPITALITY”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 May 2012

A customer is considered only a source of money and nothing else. They changed the room rate from 95 to 115 pounds just because we walked in without a booking. Good location but no sense of hospitality. I wouldn't stay there again. Ok for a one off stay but definetely not a memorable experience.

Room Tip: Book this hotel in advance!

I am sorry that these guests felt we were inhospitable on this occasion, this most certainly was not our intention - in fact we felt we had given them good value - offering a reduction on our normal rate for this room. On arrival in the evening, two guests asked the room rate for our only remaining room and we advised them it was £95 (even though the usual rate was £105 for two guests in this room). Then they advised us that there were actually four adults in their party who wanted to share this room. As the room had a double bed and two single beds, it was possible for this to happen, but we advised them that the rate for four people was more expensive: ie £115. We believed that this was good value for money, being only £28.75 per person for accommodation, VAT tax and full breakfast. It is also much less than the rate published for four adults on our website. We apologise to these guests for our initial error in believing that only two guests would occupy the room, but stand by our right to increase the room rate for four adults sharing one room.

“Relaxing, comfortable, quiet and tasty!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 April 2012

We enjoyed 4 nights at Craigard in April. Roger and Lori were very kind and always keen to help. Especially Roger who was great for advice on things to do and see in the area. The food was generally good especially the local seafood and cheeses. We were in room 4 above the dining room with the big bay window. Stunning views which are worth the visit on their own. The 4 poster bed was very comfortable. The room was clean and well equipped. The wireless streamer for music was a useful addition and the free wireless connectivity came in very useful. We found it quiet, relaxing and comfortable. If you are visiting Campbeltown you could do a lot worse especially if you appreciate a good view.

“Beautiful And comfortable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 March 2012 via mobile

We have stayed here the last 2 times we have visited from the united states. The owners are lovely people who enjoy taking care of their guests. The restaurant serves excellent food using local fare. A full bar is available too! Bean, the collie mix is a love and demands a belly rub and in return will give you a cuddle. Overall an A+++. I would highly recommend staying here and I plan to do so very soon!!

“A great place to stay”

We struggled to find anywhere to stay on our recent visit to Cambeltown, but were made very welcome by staff (including animals!) at the Craigard House Hotel. Great evening meal and probably the best porage of our stay in Scotland, but there were a few issues with the room, including not being able to connect to the Wi-fi. Nothing to stop us from staying there again or recommending it to others- so do try it!

“Fantastic!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 February 2012

I've stayed at the Craigard three times (July 2011, November 2011 and February 2012) and I can honestly say each stay has been better than the one before. Both Roger and Lori (not forgetting Beanie of course!) are very friendly and welcoming (even when I arrived at 10pm for my first stay, the kitchen was closed but I was still offered something to eat). The rest of the staff were also friendly, polite and relaxed.
The three rooms I stayed were excellent, each one decorated with it's own style and lots of character. The beds are very comfortable, and the bathrooms clean and tidy and again each with it's own character. There was also a nice selection of tea, coffee and hot chocolate available. My third room (Jura) was the best.
The inclusive breakfasts were superb, with a fantastic range of cereals, fruit, jams etc. The cooked breakfasts were amazing (I wish I could make scrambled eggs as good!). The evening meals in the restaurant were delicious with a great range for all tastes (I'm a fussy eater too). The only problem was eating to much!
I cannot wait for my fourth stay!
Thank you Roger and Lori for making me feel very welcome.

Room Tip: Jura. Fantastic room, lovely bathroom with underfloor heating which was a nice surprise! Away from t...

Many thanks for this kind review. A lot of people like Room 15, which has a sea view and is located in the old Stable part of the house, separate from the main building. We have just updated another four rooms, so next time you come you may find another favourite! We look forward to seeing you again soon.
