My husband and I were on 6 weeks holiday from Australia. We visited Carnoustie to catch up with a long time school friend that I had not seen for 40+ years, and to enjoy a traditional hogmanay with good company. The "Poppy House" was recommended by our friends. The B&B had just opened and we were the first real overseas visitors!
The spotless accomodation was very comfortable, with all modern conveniences readily available. Breakfast , in the family dining room, was a memorable affair served from a set menu, with ample choice. There was pleanty of tasty hot nourishing food to eat which often kept us going till the evening meal!
The little coastal town of Carnoustie is known for it's golf course and is this year to be the location of the World Golf Tournament! The only main street / CBD is 100 metres from "Poppy House" and the main eastern railway station is 500 metres away. There are several pubs in town where excellent meals are available.
There is a great beach with an extensive walkway along to the famous golf course/club house. Sunrise walks are really memorable, even in mid-winter!
Carnoustie was a welcome retreat from the noise and congestion of modern cities.
