“Lovely guesthouse in a great location”

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Poppy House. As a lone traveller I was made to feel completely welcome and felt comfortable right from the start. Rooms were clean, with TV and tea/coffee facilities, and breakfasts wonderful. Good quiet location, close to the small town centre and also close to the train station and bus stops. Lovely summer house in the garden to relax in after a hard days sightseeing!

“Superb Accomodation - Fantastic welcome with superb hosts.”

The Poppy House is the best B and B that I have stayed in. Beautiful rooms with the most fantastic decor and wonderful views coupled with the most fantastic hosts.

I moved into the Poppy House hoping to be staying for a few months until my own property in the Scottish Borders sold. This took longer than I expected I was priviledged to stay with John and Alison for almost 2 years.

They made me feel so welcome with their wonderful hospitality, advice, kindness, support and fantastic cooking.

I was made to feel part of the family which was just wonderful as I had just started a new teaching post and I was a total stranger to the area.

The Poppy House is a charming house and a wonderful place to relax in with the amazing views to the sea. John and Alison are so friendly and welcoming. Absolutely nothing is a problem to them. They make all guests feel so welcome and to them it is not just about running a business, to them it is about making their guests feel welcome and they go out of their way to ensure that all guests leave with a fantastic impression of the area and of the people of Carnoustie.

The rooms are spotless and are all so charming and exquistely decorated. The garden is absolutely beautiful with the most amazing summer house for guests to relax in.

They really care about the people that come to stay in the Poppy House and they made me feel just like part of their own family, for which I am so grateful.

I feel that a trip to Carnoustie must include a stay in the Poppy House or you will be missing out on the most wonderful of welcomes.

“Homely hospitality”

My husband and I were on 6 weeks holiday from Australia. We visited Carnoustie to catch up with a long time school friend that I had not seen for 40+ years, and to enjoy a traditional hogmanay with good company. The "Poppy House" was recommended by our friends. The B&B had just opened and we were the first real overseas visitors!

The spotless accomodation was very comfortable, with all modern conveniences readily available. Breakfast , in the family dining room, was a memorable affair served from a set menu, with ample choice. There was pleanty of tasty hot nourishing food to eat which often kept us going till the evening meal!

The little coastal town of Carnoustie is known for it's golf course and is this year to be the location of the World Golf Tournament! The only main street / CBD is 100 metres from "Poppy House" and the main eastern railway station is 500 metres away. There are several pubs in town where excellent meals are available.

There is a great beach with an extensive walkway along to the famous golf course/club house. Sunrise walks are really memorable, even in mid-winter!

Carnoustie was a welcome retreat from the noise and congestion of modern cities.
