“Nice hotel situated in the heart of Peterhead”

I stayed here for work for roughly 2 weeks, it doesn't look much from the outside but inside it's very nice and quite big, there are 2 restaurants, one upmarket and a sports bar (which gets quite lively), although both are quite pricey, i had a beef burger which cost roughly 13 pounds, although it was nice! The breakfast which is inclusive of the rate is the best hotel breakfast i have tasted, and i have tasted many! The rooms are very stylish, small but adequate, huge flat screen TV, good comfy bed and nice bathroom. No free internet for customers tho, which they should provide. Staff are great, always happy to help, even gave me a plate, knife & fork for my take away's i brought back to the room.

“Very nice Hotel”

My husband and i stayed here with our son for our friends wedding. It was a very nice hotel with lovely and clean rooms. The only downfall we had was we had booked a family room for 2 nights... apon arrival at 10pm at night we found they had given us a double room. This was fixed quickly and we were moved to another room but was told we could only have it for one night as it was booked for another family the next night so we would have to be moved the next day which was a shame because the room was perfect... a double bed and bunk beds. The next day we were moved to what was supposed to be a executive family room but was infact a double room with a travel cot put in which was not great with having a 3 year old child! Also we stayed at halloween which ment that both nights the bar had a very loud party on which went on untill 2am! Apart from that the rooms were extremely nice and my friends wedding reception was fantastic with lovely food!

“The gravy train! :(”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 September 2010

This hotel should definetly not be on anyone's wish list; the service was sloppy, ineffective and unorganised, and the rooms had a disgusting unidentified slop mark on the beside table (educated guess was gravy!) and can only be described as BASIC. for 85£ we could have had a nice b and b down the road. stay away!!!

“Good hotel with extremely good staff, blighted slightly by a thoughtless lack of attention to a (minor) detail”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 June 2010

I suggested the Palace to 2 friends who were coming to visit me for a long weekend, and am overall really glad I did.

They were extremely pleased with the quality of the room, and we had dinner in the diner above the bar twice. The staff were brilliant (maybe the receptionist could have looked up, smiled and greeted guests coming through the door but she seemed friendly and efficient when actually approached with questions) - and of the generally excellent staff in the diner the more mature waiter (maitre'd ??) was quite amazing, going totally out of his way to make sure we were looked after well, actually going off to find leaflets about local attractions, and even provided us with an answer to a totally unrelated question. VERY impressive.

The food was very good, fresh, value for money and well presented. We felt extremely valued and well looked after.

One thing that upset us (as "foreigners") was the fact that there was a swastika scratched into one of the tables. It may not seem a big deal to some people, but to many people from abroad or visitors from a different religious background this is offensive. I think a table with a swastika should be removed or replaced or sanded down and re-varnished. This is not acceptable in a hotel that caters for an international clientele........ But other than that - great place, great staff, great food and I will not hesitate to book rooms in the Palace again next time I have visitors. I WOULD like to see something done about that swastika as it really did spoil my enjoyment of the last evening somewhat. There is no need for that.

“Central Location”

My son had recommended this place for us to stay whilst we were in the area. He had previously stayed there on business. The hotel is centrally located but has two car parks and on street parking is not a problem. The rooms are adequate and quiet although you do hear the floorboard creaking when someone passes your room. Breakfast in the morning was very good. Served by a lady that really seemed to enjoy her job.
My only gripe was that when we tried to check out the young lady on reception was chatting to a member of staff and they were more interested in arranging their days off than me paying the bill. So much so that she had to print out the bill three times before it was correct.
Despite that I would use this hotel again next time I am in the area.
