“reasonable accommodation, but poor food!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2012

Very poor dinner - especially for the price! Also the breakfast left a lot to be desired, Cereals, etc, cleared away before breakfast time was over. Cooked breakfast items were minimal and undercooked. Obviously a lunch party in for Christmas celebrations as the waiting staff were preparing tables for lunch before 10am, when breakfast should still have been on the go. We have stayed here many times over the last 10 years, but I think our custom will be discontinued as the overall service is going drastically downhill.

Very close to down town and all the shopping. Many good restaurants and bars within walking distance. Typical UK hotel, small rooms, small beds, clean and comfortable. Free WIFI, good breakfast and lively bar in the Hotel.
Friendly staff.

“Great Location”

Stayed for here for 4 nights first week in December.
Hotel is in a great location for all that the city of Aberdeen has to offer yet is located away from the hustle and bustle of Union Street (people & traffic noise), although just 5 mins. walk to the main shopping areas.
Very friendly and helpful staff. The room I had (303) was on the small side at the top of the building but this was made up by being very cosy with a double bed, and I could actually see the sea from the large window.
Nice restaurant and bar, with the food being ok especially breakfast. The bar offered a very good selection of beers.
Some fine granite buildings and architecture that have to be admired around this area.
Would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Rooms are laid out on several levels, so select according to your own fitness level.

“Good Hotel - Great Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2011

I spent 1 night in this Hotel. Breakfast was hot and quite tasty. The Bed was large, even though it was a single and was very comfortable. Shower was a bath/shower mixer valve with independent shower hose and was acceptable to use. The Bar was fantastic and had real ales and was decently priced for a hotel. Location is a 4 min walk from Train station and its really handy for bars and restaurants.

“Not as good as last time”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

Stayed at the Brentwood for nights in November. We must have been unlucky with the room this time as we were given a room directly above the outside smoking area. This meant that we could not open the window as the smell of cigarettes came straight in. There was also a lot of noise from the smoking area late at night.
Wasnt too impressed with the restaurant on this visit either. On two mornings when we came down to breakfast, there were no cleared tables and in the rush to get us sat down the staff didnt clean the tables properly. On the Sunday evening we booked a table for dinner and when we arrived were told that half of the menu was not available. I would have left on the spot but my wife didnt want to make a fuss.
On the morning we were leaving we were awakened by the fire alarm at 0730 which went off twice in 5 minutes. Then we were subjected to workmen clomping past our room talking on their phones at the top of their voices.
We have stayed at the Brentwood on other occasions without any problems but feel these problems need to be addressed to keep the hotel to its usual high standard.

Room Tip: Rooms near the stairs and facing onto the smoking area are noisy and better avoided.
