I stayed here for one night whilst on a business trip to Aberdeen. My meeting was on Altens so it seemed an ideal place to stay. I was not disappointed. This is a well maintained hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. The hotel is clean, fresh and comfortable. The bedroom was great and included everything you would want including tea & coffee, TV, iron etc. The bed itself was one of the most comfortable I have slept in for years & I enjoyed a great night’s sleep which is unusual when I stay away from home. The food was also top notch. I enjoyed a beautiful "catch of the day" evening meal served to my table in the bar whilst I watched the live football on Sky TV. Breakfast was also spot-on. Everything you could ask for from fresh fruit all the way through to a full English breakfast (Sorry if that was a full Scottish breakfast by the way!!). There is a free courtesy bus in the morning which takes guests to their destinations on Altens. I didn’t use it as I had arranged transport to pick me up from the company I was visiting.
I have travelled a lot with my job and this is definitely the best hotel I have stayed in over the last couple of years. The only down side was that I only stayed one night!! That’s how good it was. Thanks to everyone at the Thistle Aberdeen Altens for a lovely night’s stay.

I went there for business only, and for that purpose the location was quite good. I was attending a Petrofac course, and it took only about 10 mins to walk there.

The rooms are very nice BUT, while the hotel are trying to save energy, they have replaced their normal spotlight with very low light LEDs. It's fine to save energy - but I had to struggle just to see myself in the bathroom mirror. I would give 5 stars for the room IF it had better lighting.

Another big minus is their internet sevice - 10£ for 24hours...

From the outside this hotel looks like its been airlifted from Chernobyl - very concrete, very ugly, very eastern bloc.
But, and its a big but, its really nice inside, modern rooms, lovely bar area. I didnt see leisure facilities etc but I really recommend this place. I was working nearby so it was perfect. Dont pay over the odds, but often it can get full .
