“Worst night's sleep - ever!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

The hotel is very conveniently situated for Abedeen City centre, which is why we booked it - but never again. It is situated at a busy crossroads and the street noise is appalling. People leaving pubs and nightclubs wander about the street in gangs shouting and calling to each other. This is not the hotel's fault as such, but when we mentioned the noise the receptionist said we should ask for a quiet room next time. As if. The hotel's page does mention that stag and hen parties use this hotel, but we thought a Wednesday night would be fairly quiet. Apart from the noise the bed had a dodgy spring which didn't help towards a good night's sleep.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room

“Why you find short notice rooms here”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

Very high price for poor room without decent facilities
Toilet seat almost off hinges
Fixed showerhead angled not correctly for showering
Bathroom tiles replaced not matching
Plenty street noise, no attenuation through window
Poor bed, very old and saggy
Don't expect the use of a hot iron for your shirt
On the plus side, wifi in the "bar" is free and room desk is big enough to work on.

Room Tip: Ask for room not facing the street. Alternatively, try the new Ibis around the corner.

“Take earplugs”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

Located in a building that originally housed the city's C&A department store (now long gone), Aberdeen Central Travelodge is indeed very central, situated close to the railway station, and ideal for shopping and nightlife.
However, that same nightlife produces a lot of street noise when you are trying to sleep, even on the Thursday night in January when I stayed there. Travelodge should consider double- or even triple-glazing their properties in noisy locations, as I'm sure the investment would pay off in zzzs. In the meantime, if you would prefer not to be kept awake by the sounds of drunks yelling at each other half the night, try asking for a room that doesn't overlook Union Street or Bridge Street.
Generally though a standard - and rather soulless - Travelodge which has all the usual facilities and does what it says on the tin.

“This must be the worste hotel deal I have ever experienced......”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

................. and I travel a lot!!

Last minute deal so I was charged £199.95 for one night!!!
On arrival noted some of the towels were dirty.
The hotel is in a busy area in the centre of town, my room was on the first floor and had very little in the way of noise reduction - the traffic noise was so bad I struggled to talk on my mobile, let alone sleep.
Breakfast............. after paying 200 quid a night for a room I do not expect to have to pay another seven pound odd for a cup of tea and a bowl of corn flakes.
I took this one as my travel agent said it was the only room available for 30 miles, take a tip, travel the extra 30 miles and avoid this one!!
