I passed this place the other night on the way home from work, and it looked so inviting with all it's christmas lights twinkling that I decided to venture up it's rather grand driveway for a drink. My first impression was that it is a beautiful place with lovely old-world decor and chandaliers a-plenty. With an expectant smile on my face, I approached the busy bar. After a minute or so, I was approached by a middle-aged blonde barmaid who instantly removed my smile. Her manner was dour and surly, and it seemed obvious that she thought she was far too good to be there. Anyway, I found a table and had just began to enjoy my very over-priced pint of lowenbrau when she stropped over and asked - "You're not dining with us tonight are you?" Don't worry - NO CHANCE!!!

A lovely, friendly hotel, about a 20 min walk from the city centre. Helpful, pleasant staff.
Rooms spotless. Sky sports on the tele. Good hot shower.Lovely breakfast at sensible times, all in all a great place to stay.

Stayed for a weekend, staff were lovely, great location and we were lucky enough to get some sun, so we got to enjoy the gardens, very busy place, popular with families and groups, but also noticed lots of couples too. Would definitely be back!

I can't fault this hotel for providing comfortable accommodation and reasonable breakfasts. There was nothing to make it outstanding, but the room was relatively modern and spacious with a comfortable bed and good shower. Breakfast was a fairly standard fare but cooked options were tasty and not too greasy, as they often can be in many places. The pub and restaurant downstairs are very popular. It offers a menu typical of a family pub - scampi, gammon steak, curry, burger etc, which seemed of good standard for what it is. The weather was very warm when we stayed and, subsequently, the large beer garden was busy 'til late. The noise could be a problem if you're wanting an early night (our room overlooked the garden and we definitely needed the window wide open), though this wasn't an issue for us.
