“Another rave review for the Arduthie Guest House”

I will agree with all of the other posters that this is a lovely place to stay. Sometimes I'm wary that B&B/guest house type places will be too personal and cloying, or fluffy with ruffles and teddy bears. But this is not at all the case here! Our host and hostess were sociable and there when we needed them but had their own lives and respected ours. That is not to say we lacked for anything. They even gave us a nicer room than we thought we'd get, because it was available, and they knew we'd enjoy the ocean and town square view. The sunrise was gorgeous.

Bathroom fixtures were very new and modern. Towels were fluffy. The house is of a charming vintage and well kept.

“Outstanding”

I stayed at Arduthie House in April 2006 and would just like to add my praise and recommendation for the place.
The room I stayed in was large and very comfortable, and very nicely furnished.
As others have said, there are little extras which you don't normally find in a b&b (or any accommodation with a price in this category - 35 pounds for the night). There was a bowl of fresh fruit, and a drink of whiskey for a night cap!
The breakfast was also large and excellent quality, and the hosts are very welcoming and full of great information on the area.
Stonehaven is a lovely little town, and I would thoroughly recommend a visit there staying at Arduthie House.

“Brilliant”

I stayed at this lovely B&B for one night in September and wished at the time I could stay longer! I had a single room with share facilities for 24 pounds. My room was recently renovated and very clean; room contained wardrobe, beside table, single bed, tv, sink/vanity, toiletries, robe, tea/coffee facilities, magazines/books. Upon arrival I also found fresh fruit and mints as a welcome. My room was at the front of the hotel with a lovely view of the quite street. Although share facility, I had the bathroom, situated just down the hall, all to myself. There is also a guest sitting room, situated on the second floor, with couches/chairs, a television set, magazines, books and boardgames and a sideboard containing tourist information. Breakfast was outstanding and would definately set anyone up for a busy day - the standard cooked fare, along with porridge ( must be ordered the night before to allow for preparation ), pancakes, maple syrup, cereals, toast, fresh raspberries, fruit salad ...... Martin, the properietor is incredibly nice and very helpful. I would definately stay here again.

“Outstanding B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 November 2003

We stayed at Arduthie House in August 2003 and it was the was the clear "star" out of all the B&B's we stayed at during a 4-week stay in the UK. We arrived late in the day (with reservations) and although there was a small mix-up with our booking, the host accomodated us, allocating my 2 sons to a private ensuite, which was much more to their liking than the family room we had booked! The rooms were tastefully decorated and replete with many small touches (stationery, sweets, a wee dram of whisky) that really made us feel welcome. Excellent value for money!

outstanding establishment in every way - host very gracious, personable & attentive to any needs, accommodation extremely comfortable & pleasant, food abundant, freshly prepared, and the decor & ambiance outstanding - felt like I'd walked into a Victorian manse - even happened on music sessions in the "drawing room" in the evenings!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
