“Great Guest House, Wonderful Hosts, Busy Road”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 December 2011

Stayed here a couple of months ago and booked at the last minute, and the hosts could not have been friendlier. There is plenty of car parking space at the back of the property as the guest house is on a fairly busy thoroughfare in and our of Aberdeen.

The facilities in the house are also very good, with Flat Screen TV/Free Wifi/Tea & Coffee Making facilties.

The room I had, did not have en-suite facilities, but rather a bathroom/shower room, across the main corridor, which I held the only key for, so it was for my personal use methinks.

In the morning you can pretty much any combination of breakfast you like, from Full Scottish, to the couple of poached eggs and toast I had. Along with the cereal and juices options, you won't go hungry here. Be aware though, that you need to let the host know the night before when you will roughly be down for Breakfast, as the breakfast area cannot accomodate all the guests at the one time.

The only thing I would change about my next reservation here would be the location of my room, as Room numbers 1,2 and 3 face onto the main road, which had very jeavy traffic quite early in the morning. IF you are a light sleeper like myself, this could easily wake you at about 0630, so try and get a room above 3.

Room Tip: Take any room above No.3 as those face the main road, which can get quite busy early on

Hi
Thank you for your frank and honest review. However there are two points that I would like to make. Firstly, only rooms 1 and 2 face the main road, while room 3 window, faces the rear of the guest house. Secondly, rest assured that rooms 1 and 2 EACH have their own private facilities, without sharing of any kind.

Kind regards,

Alice and George Jennings.

“The wonderful Jays”

I regularly visit Aberdeen with work and once I had stayed with George and Alice, there was no going back. I have even been known to rearrange meetings to make sure I can stay at the Jays. The welcome is always warm, the rooms always cosy and clean and I get apricot jam with breakfast - my treat when away from home. I recommend the Jays to anyone coming to the city, on one condition - don't stop me from getting a room when I need one! Many thanks George and Alice and see you soon!

“Perfect "Guest House" err"Perfect House:)"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 November 2011

It was my first visit to Scotland. I accompanied my sister for a conference to Aberdeen, while she would be busy attending the conference I would be of my own the entire day to explore and to measure the length and breadth of the granite city.

The location of the guest house is extremely convenient as on can access just any place in the city by walk, be it old aberdeen, union street, food joints, lovely beach, maritime museum or art gallery or when you need to hop on a bus, the bus stop was at stone throw away distance.

The host George and Alice are the most perfect hosts I have come across, who not only provided warmth and comfort of the home and family away from home but were also great in guiding as to where to go.............., how to go........

Once back at home I just wonder how are they able to run the guest house so impeccably, every article in the guest house be it the room, bathroom, dinning room, tea kettel, TV, bed linens, drapes and curtains, paintings everything speaks about the amount of care and dedication put in by the amazing couple George and Alice.

Being new to the city I would bother them at many odd times (in the afternoon, at dinner time:),and my many botherations were no botherations for them, always ready and willing to help. George and Alice would always be integral part of the wonderful memories I have of the Scotland, to be cherished.

Absolutely flawless care given to each of the guests, be it taking care of taste buds of people from different countries or i would say different continents, or house keeping, they toil to give you the comfort of your own home, so that when you leave them you not only promise to visit the city of Aberdeen again but also to stay in the same guest house again.

They deserve 5 stars and not 4 stars.

Due to a one week conference, I stayed at Jays Guest House and I've enjoyed every minute I was there. The room was cosy, perfectly cleaned every day and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was customised to each guest - fresh and simply good. Alice and George are lovely hosts who care a lot about their guests. The Jays Guest House is place were you feel at home. Thank you very much Alice and George!

I cannot rave enough about this wonderful B & B! Alice and George are personable, informative and charming hosts. They have a wealth of knowledge about local sights and restaurants. The accommodations were ample with lovely firm beds (my back hasn't felt so great in years), hot showers and daily cleaning! What a treat to enjoy afternoon tea (shortbread and tea/coffee in room) when coming back from shopping, business meeting or a tour. Alice cooked a full Scottish breakfast daily. The menu varied and was often personalized based on individual needs/requests. Needless to say the food was delicious! I would not hesitate to recommend this lovely B & B if you are planning a stay in Aberdeen.

Room Tip: Let Alice and George know about your needs!
