“Family Hospitality”

My family of 6 stayed one night in 2 rooms at the B&B at the end of July in 2005. The facility was as expected, clean and well maintained. We had 2 rooms in the downstairs which were quite large and comfortable. One was a family room with a double and 2 single beds and the other a room with a double both with ensuite baths & showers.

The proprietor, James Nicoll, was very personable and helpful in directing us to a delightful dinner at a local hotel restaurant. The included Scottish breakfast was cooked to order and quite good.

The B&B was easy to find and had limited on-site parking if you arrived early enough. Having arrived late from our trip from Loch Ness we found convenient on street parking just outside the facility.

We will definetely stay again circumstances permitting.

“A Wonderful Stay...”

Two of my friends decided to get maried...and on top of that, they decided to get married in Scotland. Not being a wealthy guy, price was a factor and, unlike in the U.S., Guest Houses are the affordable way to stay in Europe. After a fairly brief search I came across Aberdeen Nicoll's Guest House at an unbelievebaly low rate, which included a full English Breakfast every morning! My entire stay was cheaper than two nights at the place where the wedding reception was held. My stay could not have been nicer. It was very clean and cozy and you really felt like you were a guest in a home rather than a hotel. There are two shared bathrooms, but both are very clean modern and never had to wait if we needed to use one. After a week stay, it felt more like I was moving out than going home. Mr. Nicol was a gracious host and service was always with a smile. Oh, and make sure to look in the drawers, there is a hairdryer there. (We did not look and my Girlfriend bought a new one at Boots only to find the one in the drawer as we were packing up.) The house is located only a few short blocks from Union Street, the busiest in Aberdeen. Most other local tourist stops are within walking distance (some are a long walk, but...) (a quick aside, while most things are within walking distance, if you do not have a car, taxis are readily available..unless it is rush hour...book ahead if you have someplace to be) Basically it was a wonderful trip whoich was made better by a great place to stay.
