Don't give this hotel a miss as it probably one of a kind. Great atmosphere - food - and supper clean!

The food in Ellingtons Diner was good for pub food but the waiting staff were not interested and we too busy avoiding us. Cleaning tables instead of clearing our plates! The food was good but lacked presentation. On the whole, I would return for a pub lunch but wouldn't take someone who I was looking to impress!

In my view worth a stay to experience the Art Deco style. Hard to tell what is original and what is a more recent addition. Noisy room (thin walls) and excessively hot.

Stayed for one night after attending a wedding function there. Enjoyed a hassle free and friendly service from check-in to check-out. My room (criticised by someone long ago in a previous review) was spacious, clean and outside traffick barely audible The function ran like clockwork and the owner can be very proud of himself and his staff. The highlight was the main course for the evening set meal. Many functions fall short by serving dried out fare prepared too far in advance. The northen get round this by running the main course as a carvery. Genious. Amongst other things skirlie and neeps were offered up without apology so lots of credit for keeping good scottish food alive!
