“Comfortable”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

A bit out of town, but if you want a quiet hotel with good friendly staff its quite good and you can get good rates on the internet. The reception has an open fireplace which make the place look very cosy. It could do with being refurbished as some areas look a bit shabby, but its not too bad. A coat of paint on some of the doors would be enough. Very good breakfast

Room Tip: Rooms comfortable and some being refurbished

“Not so good!!”

We have stayed in the Ardoe on a number of occassions in the passed and have been very pleased as it was always clean and tidy. I cannot believe how quickly it has deteriorated since June last year. The hall ways to the rooms could do with a good paint or even washed down, every wall is marked either by trolleys or suitcases. Our room was 127 again desperate for a paint. The bath had a wood facing which didn't look the cleanest so I took the face cloth (sorry) and wiped to see if it was the way it was or dirt. It rubbed off and the face cloth was black. I did leave it for the cleaner but maybe she didn't notice. The toilet around the top was filthy it could do with a good scrub and some bleach. Its definately not 4 star standard. We were booked in for DB&B and was rather disappointed when we had to pay for either chips, mash etc as that was not included in your meal. We never had a dessert so you think that would have been knocked off. We had to pay a suppliement of £10 for a steak which I dont mind. I would not recommend going for DBB when you have to pay roughly £13.50 on top of your meal without a dessert. The food was good and well presented and waiter very friendly tho. We paid £180 for two of us for one night DBB. We certainly wont go back.

“Good old typical Scottish castle hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

I stayed with a group of colleagues at the Ardoe House hotel for 2 nights and we spend one night with the group at the hotel for dinner. This hotel, typical Scottish style castle, with a touch of the French motherchain, is located a 10-15 taxiride outside Aberdeen. The surroundings are lovely and quiet. The hotel rooms may need a few upgrades. I slept in a room at the far end of the corridor (about 5 minutes walk to reach the reception and breakfast area), nicely quiet, though not very convenient when time is limiting. The room - in my opinion - does not deserve the Mercure quality label, but is neither of a too bad quality. I missed a minibar, or anything of snacks and drinks, the windows were not opening well, the heater was set on a very high level and the bed was not designed for tall people.. Anyway, breakfast was really good, as well as the bar and the client friendliness at the reception. In summary, good place to stay for a few nights.

Room Tip: Suggest to choose a room from 101-110 or 201-210 and not higher, unless you don't mind to walk a...

“A very nice place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

My sister and her husband had given my wife and I a Red Letter Day voucher which we decided to use on a one nights stay at this hotel in Aberdeen. We arrived mid-afternoon and were greeted by nice staff on reception. The room was very nice with a comfy bed and a wonderful walk-in shower. The layout of the hotel was great with the old style castle part mixed in very well with the modern rooms section. The spa building looked great (it was our intention to use the pool on the Sunday morning but decided to stay in bed !!). The breakfast buffet was brilliant with a very good selection of food to meet all tastes. All in all a very nice experience and one I would recommend to family and friends.
