“Nicest hostel in Ireland”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

Quite frankly, this place is too nice to be called a hostel. Yes, there are shared dorm rooms (probably individual rooms too - I'm not sure) but that is about where the comparison with a hostel ends. It has just had a big revamp and looks more like a gorgeous, stately B&B. You'll be invited to go out and enjoy the great local nightlife, Irish music, etc, but it might be hard to tear yourself away from the fabulous living room. Relaxing sofas, big modern TV, chandeliers, and a great crew of staff. Importantly for me, cleanliness is really important to the people here. I found that in most of Ireland and the UK the quality of hostels was pretty poor, so I was pretty excited to stay at such a nice one in Derry.

Hi Sarah

Thank you so much for your positive review, it was lovely to have you stay with us.

Its always nice to get good comments from a tripadvisor.com veteran contributor. And its cool that you liked the improvements with this beautiful historic hostel in Derry - Paddys palace.

Hope to see you soon back here in Historic Derry. Happy Travels

Welcoming, helpful and accommodating international lot.
More importantly: this is the case time and time again, so wonderfully consistent! THANKS! :)
....and nicely redone recently. What else could you ask for?!

Room Tip: I do not think it makes much difference.

We really liked Paddy´s staff. They were absolutely great and welcoming. They were giving us directions in town. They even took us out to a great Irish Pub with live music and invited us to a Party at Paddy´s later.

We definitely had a awesome stay in Derry! Thank you guys!

“Home away from home”

I really enjoyed my time at this hostel. I found it clean and cheerful and the location was great for exploring the city. The staff were friendly and more than helpful with any questions and even organised a free shuttle bus after our stay! With an open fire, great atmosphere, HOT water and a cat to top it off, this hostel was very welcoming and I would recommend it as the closest hostel to home I've stayed in yet. Thanks guys

“Cheap and Cheerful. Staff AMAZING. Rooms Good, everything else a bit 'tired'”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 November 2011

Had an AMAZING weekend hear 18th-20th November.
All the staff at the hostel really kind and helpful, made pretty good friends with them.
Rooms and sleep quality were good.
The place itself is a bit 'tired', such as half finished bathrooms and 'raw wood' staircase,
but for £13 a night with breakfasrt you couldnt ask for more.

Location is great like a 2 minute walk to the centre of Derry and Bus station.
Bars like 30 Meters away.

Would highly recommend for a budgeted trip to Derry!!
