This OK is fine. I've traveled a lot and stayed in great hotels to holes, this is definitely neither. To start, the room was a decent price, about 59 pounds. Had two beds, a Double & single. Work area, cabinet for hanging your clothes, & small table w/ 2 chairs. Small Television, maybe 20" and it only gets 7 channels. No Alarm Clock, but that seems to be the standard in European hotels. Pants press in the room is great, but you need to call the front desk to get an iron & board brought to your room. The room had a bit of a smoke smell to it when I first came in, the entire place is non-smoking, but I don't think they realized the smell will still stay in the curtains & carpet.
Bed was fair, bathroom has a lot to be desired. The tub is cracking on the outside, and leaks water from somewhere, so I needed to place a towel next to it every time I showered. They have a small shelf for toiletries, but no other storage places.
The Restaurant - Food is OK, the Irish tend to overcook everything. Also, they use the same fryer for everything, so anything fried tastes like fish. You get free breakfast in the morning, and I still think I had a fish stick instead of potatoes.
The Pub is not someplace you'll want to hit every night. As I was told, it's an old timers hang. Which from my one night in there, fit the bill perfect. You can get to Belfast City Centre in 20 minutes for about 12 pounds by cab. The City is a fun place, reminds me of Dublin, but less expensive, and not as touristy.
Some my recommendation for the Ivanhoe...Fine if you're looking for a decent price near city, but don't set this up if you looking to impress someone. Take it for what it is...A small, economical, hotel that gives yo a place to sleep.
