“Warning - Your rooms aren't secured.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 December 2011

Second time I stayed here, so more fool me, unfortunately the second time I left it last minute to book and this was the only place available - and i'm not surprised. I very rarely be bothered to give somewhere a bad review, unless it really deserves it - and this place does. The first thing I want to say, is probably the biggest point -

The key which you are give? Well that key will let you into any other hotel room. By accident I tried my key in my friends door, as we got mixed up, and it let me in. After realizing this, we tried it on a few other peoples doors we had met. Any key we tried, let us into any room. The owners clearly just went for the cheapest key/lock solution available.

Beside that minor point, the ensuite shower I paid for? Well that was literally just a shower, stuck into the corner of the room. Not serperated from the room at all. Just in the corner. With a sink as well. And the toilet was half way down the corridor!

It is also really dirty, I don't mind a bit of dirt, but when I pulled back the sheets - I found ALOT of long hairs under the sheets, I was nearly sick.

Staff are generally passable, but after we had paid, we were hardly made to feel welcome.

Its just terrible, honestly, please dont stay there.

“Last minute booking in Belfast”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 November 2011

Following write off of my car in Eire due to engine flooding incident had to make very speedy booking and due to amount of luggage was essential to be as close to Belfast city centre and bus terminal as possible. Due to doubts on my arrival by receptionist as to viability of wifi access in single with bathroom I had booked, was given double without bathroom when proper gesture in retrospect would have been to reduce price to cost of single without bathroom as I had booked on basis of wifi access and own bathroom. Good points were that room was clean, bed comfortable, had a decent sized sink/lighting & lcd tv and despite rooms overlooking street, was quiet - likewise , if you want to be or must be close to centre, I am aware the hotel rates compare reasonably favourably with the usual upmarket pricey chains and from the hotel location, everything is indeed within walking distance.

Breakfast was so so and under normal circumstances , wouldn't pay £40 a night for shared bathroom and toilet (though there are enough of these on landing such that access was not a problem even if was irritating). Hotel is ok and staff ok - what you are paying for here in my opinion is the central location above all else. I will therefore neither recommend nor not recommend hotel (which would be unfair) below - I think it depends on your circumstances and what's most important to you.

Room Tip: If in doubt, clarify everything on arrival - receptionist is not helpful or unfriendly.

“DO NOT BOOK!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 November 2011

As already said by other guests: extremely dirty and moreover, a very unsafe place cause of the people running this place.
I booked for two nights and at the day of arrival they called me that I couldn't stay here, despite a booking confirmation. These guys definately made an overbooking and were aware I had to leave due to their own (financial) selfishness. The owner didn't paid the extra costs I had to make to stay in another hotel. A cab driver later told me this place has a reputation of prostitution and leaving guests.

So, be aware, start google and book another place!

“DO NOT GO HERE”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2011

Never go here! Upon arrival the owner told us that there was a problem with our room, so we could not stay here. When we asked whether the new hotel was in the center, the owner got angry and extremely rude. We couldn't say a word anymore and we should be happy that he booked something else. He lied that he tried to contact the three of us, ehich wasn't possible, because he had just one phone-number. He also lied that he couldn't show where the other hotel was, because he didn't have a map, but we should believe him that it was in the center. When we left the hotel, we saw a map and the taxi didn't bring us to the center. So, the owner is a fraud! Furthermore he promised to pay the difference in cost between his hotel and our new hotel, but when we checked out from the new hotel, it appeared he didn't pay at all.
Bu the way, the hotel smelled and was dirty!

“If you are DSS you will love it!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 November 2011

I am originally from Belfast and due to the MTV awards and lack of family space I found myself having severe difficulty getting a room anywhere. My regular hotel was overbooked, other venues had doubled their tariffs and at £40 a night this was the only place available..It is safe to saw I didnt bump into Lady Ga Ga or Justin Beiber at the CitiLodge, but I did bump into a few bemused and disgusted looking visitors who, like me had drawn the short straw with accomodation...

Whenever I asked the local cabbie to take me there he laughed and when the Middle-Eastern looking host took our payment on arrival ie before I was given the room key, my fears increased...I have never returned home to stay in squalid conditions before and whilst the state of the the B&B or bedroom may be acceptable in cheap B&B's in other parts of the world the state of the establishment went beyond the word 'shabby'.

Soon after my arrival I had a shower, however, moments later the manager was banging at the door asking me to 'stop' as 'I' was causing the room below to get wet!! Obviously the cracked wall tiles had nothing to do with it...

While the sheets looked clean, the walls, furniture surfaces, walls, TV ( didnt work) and shower was filthy. If you are a 'hotel inspector' you will not need a UV lamp....We had a balcony outside our room that doubled up as a huge ash-tray / rubbish skip (see pictures)

The location is across the road from a local nightclub called 'Madissons' and you can be assured that the paper thin walls will remind you of this both outside and inside between midnight and 4 am...There was no traditional Ulster / Irish hospitality because all the staff in the hotel were simply neither Irish nor European, and I was deprived my precious 'Ulster fry' as it would take too long to make as they 'were busy'...

Lets face it, Belfast is not Florence, nor Paris, nor London or Edinburgh..it is an industrial British city ,however there are many plus's for the home-town that I love and you should enjoy your stay, do not use this establishment, you will not get a traditional Northern Irish welcome and you will not enjoy your stay. This B&B is more suited to local DSS /homeless types and should be avoided at all costs
