We booked for two nights to celebrate a birthday.
The internet rather inflates the facilities though: the whole place needed a bit of TLC [broken front doorwhich I tripped on, and old washing lines next to the car park didn't instill enthusiasm on our arrival.]
The staff were helpful and always friendly.
We had the executive room with the jacuzzi , which initially seemed lovely. Little things like the curtains were off the hooks and there were cobwebs can be forgiven, but the shower room needed a good bit of bleach especially the shower head, which was black!
We were really looking forward to our meal having read the review of the chef on the internet and seen a sample of the menu. However our medium sirloin steaks were very tough and surrounded by a sauce tasting of bisto rather than the advertised ingredients ,and accompanied by some very hard roast potatoes . We were too embarrassed to complain straight away as the chef has received awards. We left quite a bit of the steaks, and when we did get the courage to compain later were still charged full price.
Disappointed by our evening we decided to leave the next day, after a surprisingly good breakfast.Again small things like the very ragged breakfast menus confirmed the overpricing of this place which actually has a lot of potential.
