My first time to Newport, Wales (April 20th to 23rd), and I was not sure how it would turn out. Took a chance to stay at the Night Lodge and I am so glad I did! Was warmly welcomed by "Mo" who was most delightful when booking and welcoming me to the property. Night Lodge
is only a short walk to/from the bus terminal, and just a hop, skip and a jump away from all the action within the City Centre! About a half hour bus ride in to Cardiff which is highly recommended on a Sunday. Newport was hopping on Saturday, but Sunday it was completely
dead. I went to Cardiff for the day, and it was totally happening, people about everywhere. I walked from bus station (not far maybe 5 to 10 mins), and toured Cardiff Castle. I then took a walk through Bute Park (beside Cardiff Castle) before catching bus and heading back to Newport. Night Lodge is close to everything in Newport. Short
walk to the pubs/clubs/Square/Commercial Street, etc. I ate at Pam's Takeaway on Commercial street (Fish&Chips were great, huge piece of fish!), but I am sure there are a lot of little gems about that I didnt find. One being under renovation called Balai Thai. Plus you have your local pubs, grocery store, fresh fruit and vegetable carts,
Subway, KFC, Greggs (great for cheapie sarnie's!). The rooms are quaint and clean with an ensuite shower. Shampoo/body soap in dispenser on wall - bring your own facecloth or body puff though, only towels available. A t.v. in each room (not very many channels though, seemed to be more in the evening, but who's there to watch t.v. lol !). There was tea available in the room upon arrival. Small bits for breakfast included in diningroom (cereal, yoghurt, fruit, juice). Mo even offered to make me toast, very nice. If I ever make it back to Newport again, I will be sure to stay with Mo and the gang
at the Night Lodge!! Thanks Mo for making it an enjoyable stay!!!
