If you're an independent traveller expecting to be left alone, stay elsewhere! The energetic family who owns this lovely farm-turned-B&B will overwhelm you with helpfulness. When we arrived in a downpour, completely frazzled, our hosts proceeded to engage us in long-winded explanations and questions about our own backgrounds all the way from the front desk into our appointed room.

The room itself was perfectly restored, comfortable, clean, and had a state-of-the-art bathroom attached. The rest of the hotel was equally well-kept and picturesque. If we had not been so smothered with cheer and chat, I would absolutely recommend this hotel. As it was, I would only recommend staying here if you value a high level of engagement with your hosts.

To be honest I wasn't sure what to expect when going to Gelynis Farm. I knew it was going to be either very bad or very good. Taking the punt though I'm glad my and I partner did. For those wanting the cold and starkness of a hotel room then don't come to a converted farm. Which this totally felt like. That being said though you're not going to be sleeping next to a goat called Charles on a bale of hay. Gelynis has a real 'family' feel and would be perfect for travellers wanting to go a little more grass roots and really experience the awesomeness of the city of Cardiff without being in the city.

This stay was a definate highlight for our trip. We had the most incredible breakfast - I think because most of it was grown locally. The rooms we gorgous and cute and nice sized bathrooms. The b&b is a small walk to 2 pubs which both serve fantastic meals and a gorgous walk to the train station for a shoort ride into the city. The castle is definately worth a visit (do a guided tour - it very very well worth it). In total lovely family run place. I would recomend to anyone travelling to cardiff! .

We stayed during the Ryder Cup last weekend and it was the perfect location. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, even handwriting directions to some local restaurants and pubs.

Would definitely recommend!
