I like this hotel for a number of reasons - its airy spaciousness, its attention to detail, the quality of staff (particularly the lady maitre d' who welcomed us to breakfast - I hope someone tells her just how good she is) and for its position. Restaurant and bar food were of excellent quality and quickly delivered. BUT, I have a problem. I couldn't sleep. The bathroom extractor has a VERY low level noise. When I collapsed onto the bed on the first night, the insistence of the extractor was overwhelming. It was not loud, there wasn't a mechanical fault, it was simply there. All night. And it couldn't be switched off. To my ears it was chinese torture. The second night, i used earplugs purchased from Boots but still couldn't escape the extractor's discreet reverberation through the bed. Another near sleepless night. The third night I finally attuned to it (or was just SO tired that I had to sleep, whatever). I have never been affected by this before, only at the Park Plaza. So, on the basis that the fundamental purpose of a hotel is to provide a relaxing nights' sleep, I would have to say that I wouldn't return. Although I would want to for all the other reasons stated.
And one other - really picky -thing. The bar gets busy on a Saturday night and uses the services of a DJ. Music is sent through the bar's sound system. By day/early evening, the quality of the system sounds great. By night, the music volume was so cranked up the ceiling speakers couldn't cope to the point of total distortion forcing an early departure to bed... and the extractor.
That said, if neither of my negative experiences would bother you, you should go.
