Last week I had a short break in Cardiff and chose to stay at this hotel for its location and good name. The desk staff were efficient and welcoming, and when I found my room rather dark and depressing they put me in a room facing the town hall and museum, which was light and airy. The room had all one would expect in a hotel of this standard and was much bigger than those in many of the new hotels.
The pool was good, being big enough to swim in without all the odd shapes they seem to add to make it look more inviting, and the changing room was excellent.
The restaurant and bar serve the same food, more or less, and the standard was again very good indeed. Nothing was overpriced, not even the wine.
The service in all departments was efficient and friendly.
One word of warning. As I checked out on a Friday afternoon a group of noisy young women arrived to stay for a hen night. As it was then only 3.00 p.m. I hate to think of the noise they would make arriving back from their night out. It seem that they often have such groups at the week-end.
