We were looking forward to a couple of days away after the celebrations of Christmas and New Year, so we booked what we hoped was a good hotel in Central Cardiff.
Despite a claimed upgrade, the room was small and fairly basic. The promised dressing gowns and slippers did not arrive and when we asked Reception next day, we were told we should have collected them from them. For a hotel of this price and claimed standard, that is not what I expect.
We ate in the hotel restaurant on the first night and apart from one man reading his newspaper the other side of the room, we were the only customers. The food was good, but not outstanding. For the price charged and the two AA rosettes, I was again hoping for something better from this restaurant. Needless to say, we ate elsewhere on the second night.
We were also rather upset by the hefty £17-odd per night that the hotel charges customers to use their car park.
Overall, it was a rather disappointing experience. We had a much better experience and much better value the following night at a Premier Inn.
