We had stayed at this hotel previously and vowed never to stay again due to the condition of the hotel. Staff had always been pleasant and location is great as our friends live nearby. We saw on the hotel website that the hotel had just been refurbished so thought we would give it a go. Rooms reasonably priced. We stayed for 3 nights but if you book the nights individually you can get them cheaper - if you book for 3 nights it charges you 3 times the most expensive night's rate - bit naughty really. You can get all bookings in your checkout basket before paying so you know that you have all nights confirmed at the point of payment.
As for the refurbishment, the hotel had the same old bath that looked so old with chips in it and black markings on it where the white of the bath had faded from years of use. Also I noticed that the table had drill holes in it from where the old television had been and the pull out bed didn't look like it was only a few weeks old. How much would a new bath, a 6 ft piece of wood and a new sofa bed really cost them?
The hotel did have a horrible smell in it which seemed to emanate from the carpet possibly caused by something they had treated the new carpet with. We had to keep the windows open due to the smell but not too bad as the weather was really good. I would imagine this problem will rectify itself given time.
