I have stayed here twice now and find it the perfect hotel for staying near my family when I am in Cardiff for visiting. The hotel is clean and next to a nice pub for eating. You get what you pay for so I never expected the Ritz and I was not disappointed. This is cheap and cheerful and very close to the Motorway network. Ideal.

Stayed in this hotel a couple of weeks ago while my dad was in a nearby hospital. This hotel is advertised as 'Newly Refurbished'. We booked here on the basis that it would be fresh clean and modern. How very very wrong that assumption was. It is far from refurbished. We made a point of trying to find something, anything that was new and concluded that apart from the usual, necessary and expected lick of annual paint work, we found nothing. There were large chips out of the bath, the plug holes in the basins were disgusting and if you are unlucky enough to get a ground floor room then expect to suffer the stench of damp which reminded us of cats p**. We were also told that breakfast was available and, as the hotel is next to a Harvester, assumed that breakfast was available there. No. Breakfast is not served at the Harvester and instead the 'Hotel' offers a bag of cold carbs. We had passed a ParkInn on the approach to this hotel (200yards away). Booked out of this place the next morning and moved. Had a lovely breakfast in a properly refurbished hotel.

Stayed in Cardiff for work and decided to go for this particular Travelodge as it was just outside the city centre. I arrived fairly late after driving from London and found nowhere to park in the dedicated car park so had to go into the Harvester next door. I checked at reception and they informed me this is OK to park here for anyone wondering in the future.

The room was fairly standard of Travelodge, clean enough with the basic facilities.

One of the best advantages of this site is the restaurant next door. A definite plus point when you can just walk on over instead of driving miles away.

From the photo's on the website I thought it looked decent enough.

The staff are very helpful as I asked about meal arrangements and they told me about the restaurant next to the hotel. They told me it opened 7 to 10 which I thought was a bit odd. So I waited to 6:40 and saw people going in.

The restaurant is brilliant. Free salad bar and if you order a soft drink you can get unlimited re fills. Also very cheap.

When I arrived I was asked if I would would like breakfast and that it would be £4 something. So I said I'd already paid online which they saw.

The breakfast is a small bowl and I mean small bowl of cereal, A orange juice, a muffin and a pastry. Very disappointing as I was looking forward to a good cooked breakfast as I travelled a long way (Sheffield) and worked from 6 - 6 the first day.
