Stayed at the Royal Hotel for one night. The hotel is in a perfect location within the city centre but our room was very quiet as we were located on the 7th floor. The room is decorated to a good standard although our room was very small and badly planned out. Our room rate included breakfast which is cooked to order, it took over 20 minutes for our orders to be taken and when it did arrive it was cold and of a very poor quality. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful when we asked questions.

Beautiful hotel and decor.

Perfect location in the city centre, there is a bar directly below the hotel which isnt a problem but by 10pm we could hear the music from below even though we were on the 4th floor so keep this is mind if you're a light sleeper.

we had a veautifully decorated spacious twin room- cant fault the quality there.

We did have an issue upon check in, where we were given the key for room 420 and gained access to the room only to find other guests belongings and clothes in the room- good job we arent theives!

We went all the way down to reception again only to find they had given us the wrong room- supposed to be in 402- having worked in hotels myself this is very unprofessional as well as annoying.

Breakfast was superb- you can alter and change what you want, although you only get a spoonful of beans (no exaggeration)

Then upon check out we were given a bill for drinks in the bar we'd not had, but were not made to pay for these.

Overlooking the minor problems with service, everything else was fantastic and we will definitely be staying again

We stayed here for our first wedding anniversary and it was a perfect base to explore Cardiff from. Very central (but not noisy) and deceptively spacious. Very nicely decorated and comfortable. We were room only so can't comment on catering but they do make fab cocktails.
