Middle-ish hotel. Fit for purpose ( over night stay, central, does deals) but probably in need of a refresh. Was advised next to Cardiff Central rail station - it isn't ! Not a problem for me but could be an issue if elderly &/or with heavy bags.Noisy due to traffic outside but this is a condition of a central lpocation !

I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights on business. A very good location and very close t the town centre. The rooms were warm, clean and the beds were extremely comfy. The staff were friendly and the food was delicious. The only thing I would say is that the parking is £10.00 which is very steep. My room cost £110 which I feel for the room I was given was fairly price. Have recommended to friends and family.

I booked this hotel at the last minute through Barcelo website for £59 a night for 2 nights and got 10% quidco,so didnt expect too much,we have stayed in Cardiff many times but never in this hotel.
Check in was easy we got there at 12.30 and they let us have our room,all the staff were friendly and helpful .
It is on the corner of castle street and westgate street,a few minutes walk to the the attractions and shops.
Our room had a view of the castle and although not huge was big enough.
The bathroom had a bath with a shower attachment,the only thing we found uncomfortable was it was very hot (we had to have the window open even though we had a snow blizzard and minus 5)which made the traffic loud at night,but considering what we paid it was very good value for money.
All in all a very good 3 star but not 4 star.

Just stayed overnight at this hotel with work. Spent the day in a Conference Room which was suffering from a significant draught and consequently arrived in my room feeling pretty chilly. Unfortunately despite reporting the fact at lunchtime that the radiator in the room was not warm it remained cold 5 hours later and therefore so was the room. Following another call to reception, maintenance arrived soon after and cured the problem. The room warmed up after about an hour. Barcelo appear to market their hotels as being quite modern, fresh and stylish. Whilst the room and bathroom was pretty large and quite nicely furnished it is clear that in taking over this hotel they have added what is actually quite an old building to thier portfolio and this remains obvious despite the re-decoration.

The shower test ( see my other reports ) - not the best but perfectly adequate.


Food - a la carte dinner was average but cooked breakfast, which did not look all that great was actually pretty tasty.
