Wonderful hotel, very pleasant @ helpful staff...Have stayed there quite a few times, did have a few complaints but on speaking to staff these were dealt with, & left us extremely happy....Wonderful manager Mr Johnson!!
I have seen some comments about the rooms that are not very good, in my opinion the rooms are beautiful, better than some 5* hotels I have stayed in, this hotel definitely deserves an extra *
The spa does need a bit of an update as some members I spoke to have complained many times, but that being said it is still very nice, relaxing & clean.....Beautiful lake views

We got an excellent deal through ebay - £97.00 for two of us, including breakfast and a £50.00 restaurant credit.
The hotel could do with a refurb, but it was clean and well run - so no complaints from us. The receptionist tried to charge us an extra £19.00 for a bottle of wine that we had with our dinner in the restaurant - apparently the £50.00 restaurant credit only covered food. When it was pointed out to her that this 'condition' was not mentioned on the voucher, she agreed to waive the charge. Just a pity that we had to argue the case.
The restaurant was OK, but I wouldn't pay the prices they charge without the £50 credit!
Breakfast was good and was a help yourself buffet.
Overall, we felt that we got good value for money with our voucher - but wouldn't recommend this hotel if you had to pay their standard rates.

I would have liked to give this hotel 5 stars but the breakfast, although good, was not of 5 star quality.

The Room - extremely happy with the room. It was very spacious, clean with a huge comfortable bed, and good views of the lake. The room and bathroom was spotless. My husband complained about a noise keeping him awake at night, but I did not hear anything. The room temperature was perfect. We had a fridge, tea making facilities, iron, tv with some freeview channels all of which were very good. The decor of the room is just right. It is much better then how it looks on the website.

Breakfast - a bit disappointed with the choice of hot food available, somewhat limited. However, the quality of what is available is very good: full English buffet and Continental breakfast. No complaints about the taste. The breakfast room is beautifully decorated, nice and bright overlooking the lake. NB: If you are a vegetarian there is no alternative to the bacon or sausages.

Leisure facilities - there is a gym, swimming pool, jacuzzi hot tub, one sauna room, and one steam room. We used all the facilities and overall say they are very good but we noticed the swimming pool was quite dirty and only used it once. The jacuzzi, sauna and steam rooms are excellent. If you want to stay here especially for the leisure facilities you might want to check with the hotel first if they will be open as there were signs about refurbishments due to take place. The changing rooms are not of a 4 star standard, neither are the towels that they provide.

The Location - we came for a city break, and this was a perfect location as we had our car to take us into central Cardiff 6 miles away. I'm not sure how convenient this location is if you do not have a car. Opposite the hotel is McDonalds, Burger King, Pizza Hut, and a couple of retail parks with a large Tesco and Marks and Spencers.

Great food,great location great price, the rooms are looking dated but comfortable and clean. All round great value
