We stayed here over New Year 2011 and like many others chose the hotel partly because of the Internet reviews and the website. The experience over delivered.

The hotel has the atmosphere of a boutique hotel but the comfort and friendliness of your own home. We elected to spend more time in the hotel than we originally planned because the rooms were so pleasant and the service good.

Particular credit to David, who looked after Reception and Breakfast during our stay. He was professional but friendly, cheery and clearly had a passion for both the hotel and his job. The Laverbread breakfast is also worthy of a mention. And housekeeping kept the whole hotel clean.

I’d return to Lincoln House without a doubt.

We booked this hotel based upon other reviews and had a reasonable stay here.

First thing first, this is a beautiful building that has been refurbished and the quality of the carpets, wall papers, etc is second to none. The hotel is very clean and any guest will not find fault with the kind and generous staff.

The reasons for the average score are:

1. The price was comparable with a boutique hotel - this is not a boutique hotel though, this is more of a B&B hybrid with a Hotel

2. The bed was not really that comfortable. Advertised as a king room, the bed was actually two singles mattresses on a larger ensemble (not uncommon in European hotels). Problem was the mattresses were not the same firmness and therefore uncomfortable when you spanned across them. The pillows were not comfortable either.

3. The breakfast was something that the Lincoln House Hotel prided itself upon, we found it generous in portion but somewhat bland and tasteless.

The Lincoln House Hotel is a solid choice and not somewhere I could fault - it just didn't live up to the expectations from the previous reviews. There are countless other hotels and guest house on Cathedral Road (closer to the city) that we would consider if returning to Cardiff.

Stayed here for one night as I had a meeting at the nearby university campus. Reception staff were friendly and extremely helpful, organising me a taxi for that evening. Room was clean, cosy and comfortable with great ensuite bathroom. In the morning I chose the Welsh breakfast and it was delicious.

What a fabulous boutique hotel in the heart of Cardiff!

My fiancée and I stayed from the 9 – 11th December, and were in Cardiff to meet my son who is at University there and to celebrate my 57th birthday.

The king-size room, which was a FOC upgrade after phoning last minute to book, was excellent with a very comfortable bed and warm room. The staff were very attentive but the highlight was the exceptional all inclusive full-welsh breakfast, which consisted of all locally sourced produce and the fresh fruit was absolutely brilliant.

WiFi around the hotel was a little intermittent but got there in the end.

Highly recommended!
