My husband and I stayed here over the New Year weekend 2012. We were unsure what to expect from the "Family Run" hotel. Well it was exactly that, a lovely family run hotel. The Staff (Family) were so friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for them.

The room was well equiped and comfortable as was the rest of the hotel. It was quite modern although the bath room could do with an update but very clean. The room was cleaned and replacement towels each day.

The breakfast was superb and great value for money, I would definately recomend taking the option.

The location is excellent for everything, the train station is less than a 10 minute walk as is Cardiff Castle. There are many local bars, eating places etc... close by. You will be in the heart of a great shopping area. 2 minutes from the millenium stadium. I must point out that although in a central location, we didn't have any problems with noise, the room we stayed in was fine.

All in all this was a great trip made better by staying in a great place.

Stayed here for a show at the CIA. Lovely place. For starters, only place I could find that didn't charge a premium or in advance for it being a show night (despite being round the corner from the arena)!

A friendly (family run?) hotel smack bang in the middle of Cardiff city centre. Close to shopping, supermarket over the road, and subsidised, secure parking very close by.

Gorgeous restaurant/bar on ground floor, offering a discount (20% if my memory serves me correctly?) for hotel residents.

Just about to book here again for my next trip to Cardiff!

I have stayed at the Sandringham several times before for business and leisure but this is the first time I have ever written a review about any hotel. The Sandringham is a fiendly, family run hotel. Excellent value for money. All the staff are chearful and helpful.
The location is ideal for a visit to Cardiff. The hotel is close to the railway station, the shops, the theatre, the Millenium Stadium, Cardiff Castle and a wide variety of restaurants.
Unfortunately Cafe Jazz (next to the hotel) did not have live music between Christams and New Year but normally it's a great place to have a meal and listen to live music in a wonderful atmosphere. There's also a significant discount for people staing at the hotel.

We booked this hotel not knowing what to expect. It was right in the heart of Cardiff, and comes with subsidised parking in a nearby building for 24 hours.

We got a free upgrade to a larger room, which was nice. What wasn't so nice was that it was on the fourth floor. There is no lift, so my knees were very unhappy once I'd brought my bags up.

Quiet, no problems with the neighbours or smells, adequate facilities. Television would sometimes just show static when you changed the channel, but we didn't come for the TV. Free wireless.

Walked around the neighbourhood the next day and got breakfast from the local market.
