“Pleasant and comfortable hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

We booked this break as a coach package and found it to be a great value trip. The hotel is fantastically placed for Snowdonia and the train station to the mountain is only 100 yards away (although when we stayed here the train was not working as it doesn't start running till late March)
The hotel was well run and in our experience, had very good staff.
At meal times we had a selection of meals to pick from and generally it would have catered for most tastes. The quality of the meals was good too. The dining area was a large room with an outer conservatory looking out ove the mountains and it was a pleasant atmosphere.
The hotel looks very prominent and is quite old generally but inside it is comfortable and well laid out. It had two bars and you were also able to order a selection of bar meals. Drinks were reasonably priced for a hotel although a glass of wine to us was rather expensive at £4.
Our room was warm, even though it had draughty windows (good curtains to stop the draught) and it had a modern flat screen tv. It also had tea and coffee making families which were topped up each day.
All in all, we both enjoyed our stay here, but only managed a short walk up to the waterfall due to the excursions on the coach. If we came again we would have more time to explore the mountain and lake, so we would probably return in our car next time.

“hotelshop.com short breaks”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

We have just returned from a 4 day break at the above hotel, booked through hotelshop.com. I found these short breaks excellent value for money the hotel was Clean, Warm and the staff were very friendly we had complimentary tickets to Canarvan Castle. This is the 3rd short break we have been on with
Hotelshop and the organisation is spot on. On the down side the bedrooms are quite small but adiquate.the T.V. are small portables and the Shower pressure was not very good at times as it is gravity fed

Room Tip: 2nd floor rooms are best .The Castle is well worth a visit

“Great hotel for a walking weekend”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

We have just spent our first wedding anniversary weekend in Llanberis at the Royal Victoria hotel and had a fabulous time. The hotel is perfectly located at the bottom of Snowdon and on the edge of the beautiful Peris Lake, we had a view of the mountain from our room. The hotel decor is a little tired, but it's spotlessy clean and extremely warm, and the room was a really good size. The TV was a very old little portable, but to be honest we weren't there to watch TV and so this wasn't a problem. We didn't eat at the hotel for our evening meal, preferring to try The Peak restaurant which we researched through tripadvisor and we weren't disappointed, had a fantastic meal and wonderful service in a little gem of a restaurant, which i will review separately on Tripadvisor if you're interested. The breakfast at the royal victoria was ample, we upgraded to the full welsh breakfast for £2.50 each and there was plenty on offer with the continental buffet, cereal, toast, fresh and tinned fruit, yoghurt, juices etc etc.... We couldn't fault the hotel, the staff were lovely, the room was warm and comfortable, couldn't ask for more!

“Better than expected!”

My partner and I booked a bargain pre christmas 2 night break. We have been to the area before and love it, you cant beat the breathtaking scenery. The Hotel is in a lovely location overlooking a lake, set in pretty grounds. A warm welcolm from staff on arrival, our room had just been refurbished by the look of it. other parts of the hotel were a little in need of TLC. We had booked meals on both nights, not fantastic but nice enough. The staff in the bar were great, they were happy to chat and give their knowledge of the area, We had a good weekend, and we will return to this hotel again.

“Great value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

An excellent stay. Slightly apprehensive after reading other reviews but this surpassed our expectations. Clean, welcoming, excellent happy staff, comfortable rooms and loads of hot water much needed after climbing in the area. The evening meals were fine, just basic fare. Their breakfasts were excellent. Yes, there was a disco on in the evening and some youngsters were still noisy after midnight but it wasn't intrusive and they have to enjoy themselves somewhere. To have a free bottle of wine was cream on the cake.
Only slightly negative point was no real ale, if there was I would have spent more!
