“Great B&B!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

Stayed here in May & September 2011, for 3 and 4 nights.

In May under Rose & Steve we arrived on 2 motorbikes after along trip from Norfolk and were greeted with a cup of tea and amazing Coffee cake, we toured most of North Wales and each night it felt we were returning to our home and not a B&B, Rose and Steve were brilliant.

In September we planned another trip to North Wales on the bikes, and the first place we wanted to stay was Maes-y-Garth. The new owners Stefan and Tracey were fantastic, Tracey went the extra mile and further to help with dietary requirements and tips on were to go in Wales in general.

In short, fantastic place to stay and explore! Looking forward to planning this years bike trip, weather permitting.

“The ideal exploration base for Snowdonia”

Lovely setting right in the heart of the woods of Bets-Y-Coed, Maes-y-Garth is a lovely property that we found out was designed by the renowned architect Sir Clough Williams-Ellis! Tracy and Stefan recently acquired this successful B&B and have started investing their efforts to make it better through subtle arrangements such as the evening breakfast ordering systems that allows a great variety of options while ensuring that the food is freshly cooked in the morning.

We were welcomed on our late arrival by Tracey that helped us settle in and gave us directions so that we could reach the town centre (for a very late dinner) through an exciting wood path (that includes a suspension bridge over the river!). Tracey armed us with torches and umbrellas so that we could make it there and back, dry and safe. The path is surely on the spooky side at night but worthwhile a go as I enjoyed it immensely after an extremely long drive.

We occupied 2 rooms, we were lucky to get the larger double that include ample sitting down space to relax and watch TV. The bed mattress felt very comfortable and the best we experienced during this trip. The room was very clean and provide all amenities that one expects in a B&B including large ensuite facilities. Our in-laws volunteered for the smaller double room that was also well equipped albeit not offering the same space as our room.

Breakfast in the morning is served in a lovely lounge besides a terrace with an awesome view. Pity that it was too chilly and windy to use the terrace – but I would imagine it would be wonderful to stay outside on the odd sunny summer mornings. We could still admire the sight of the woods, the hills and the finches feeding on the terrace from the lounge. The breakfast quality was top class and I particularly enjoyed the salmon with scrambled eggs.

I highly recommend this B&B for a stay in Snowdonia in a location that is both ideal for starting walking or cycling activities, or for driving tours to attractions of this stunning national park.

“Comfortable and high quality B & B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 October 2011

We arrived on two motorbikes after a long journey. We were welcomed by the hosts - Stefan & Tracey who came across as extremely friendly. We were shown our rooms and around the B & B. Both rooms were nice, very clean and comfortable with the ensuite facilities at a high standard. We were able to dry out our bike gear in the boiler room which was extremely useful. On the second night there was a burst external water main pipeline which resulted in no shower or toilet facilities for a short time. The hosts kept us informed and dealt with this mini-crisis admirably as the water board carried out a repair. The town is only a short walk away with good pubs and outdoor pursuit shops. Breakfast was superb and plentiful with fresh local produce cooked to a high standard. We would have no hesitation in visting again. Russ Stevens & Lofty Wellaway (7-9 Oct 2011)

“Brilliant B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2011

We stayed here for 3 nights and we were very well looked after, the owners Tracey & Stefan were great! very friendly, welcoming and nothing was too much trouble!

Cooked breakfast was delisious, lots of cereals to choose from as well as toast & jam/marmalade - i even had smoked salmon and scrambled egg! we were given a little list to choose from the night before so everything was ready waiting for us in the morning.

Our room was spotless,en suit was lovely with plenty of hot water. We also had tea, coffee, hot choc & biscuits in our room.

With out a doubt will be staying here again!

“very comfortable - recommended as a place to stay”

We had a warm welcome on arrival and each one in our group of five was spoken to individually. Fresh milk was provided on request as an alternative to the milk available in the room. The room was spacious, bright and comfortable. The two easy chairs were very useful. The ensuite was spotless and the water hot.
Breakfast was tasty and well presented. The packed lunch was good value and enjoyed; it was much more convenient than buying in town.
The B&B is only 10 minutes walk from the town and torches and umbrellas were conveniently provided.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would certainly return if we decided to stay in Betws Y Coed again. We had an excellent couple of nights here!
