Having done our research, we thought we were prepared for our long Bank Holiday Weekend at Llety Betws, but we were wrong.
We were expecting a smallish, well maintained, Guest House, in a convenient location for access to the town of Betws Y Coed and the surroundings.
What we got was a beautifully presented, spotlessly clean, very tastefully and comfortably decorated Home from Home.
We had chosen Room 5 because it offered roomier accomodation and a private patio.
The room is very spacious, has more than sufficient storage, an extremely comfortable Kind sized bed which afforded a very satisfying night's sleep.
The en-suite shower room was equally spacious and the shower very efficient and easy to use. The view out of the patio doors is utterly breathtaking, looking across the Conway Valley and into the tree-lined hills beyond. Unfortunately, being Britain, the weather was not really conducive to sitting out on the terrace but I am sure that many people will find this a very memorable feature of this room on future occasions.
There is a 32" flat screen tv with the usual choice of Freeview channels which gives an unexpectedly good quality picture despite being in the middle of the Welsh Hills!
We arrived fairly late in the evening and were well looked after by Sam's Mum, Bonny, who provided the advice and wind-up torch, to enable us to reach the town via the footpath over the river. There is plenty of choice of places and type of food at which to eat and drink, and our only advice here is to book in advance if you wish to eat at any of the more popular locations as they do get fully booked and they close relatively early, especially if like us you are used to Manchester Restaurant Opening Hours!
Breakfast is served in two or three sittings which gives you a choice of a lie-in, or an early start!
The choice is vast, and I defy anyone to leave the table hungry!
We particularly recommend Sam's porridge and honey- so much so that we had two bowls on our first morning!
There is a free Wi-Fi hub which provided fault-free connections to my e-mails and web-sites, and good mobile phone signals for at least Vodafone, Orange and the 3 networks.
Nothing was too much trouble for Sam and her Mum, and we had a lovely comfortable stay which we highly recommend to anyone contemplating staying in the Betws Y Coed area.
Not recommended for those with walking difficulties as it is a longish walk to anywhere, and there is not a good footpath alongside the main road, but the advantages of being out of the town far outweigh the disadvantages.
Thank you for a most enjoyable stay.
Room Tip: The Ground floor room 5 is very big and comfortable, but also the most expensive. There is a triple...
