“Great waterfall, not so great hotel!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

I stayed in the Swallow Falls Hotel for four nights in October 2011. I found the room very small, albeit it was clean and well maintained during my stay. The bed wasn't comfortable - mattress in need of replacement.

Bar meals were very good value, especially 2 meals for £10 offer. Average food though.

While staying there, there was a large fight outside at around 1am, which involved locals kicking the cars in the car park and punching and kicking people (viewed from hotel window).

On departing, I managed to get the times of Snowdon Sherpa wrong and desperately needed to get to Betws-y-coed station. The hotel reception was not that helpful with regard to me potentially missing my train - no taxis/lifts, etc. In the end, I had to run to the station carrying an almost 20kg bag and get there in 20 minutes.

Wifi didn't work in room - only in bar/pubilc areas.

The waterfall across from the hotel is awesome and the hotel is in a great location.

I think this hotel would have been fine if it hadn't cost so much for what I actually got.

“New Years Break”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

Spent two days at swallow falls over New Year?

What was good....the hospitality, the bar, the location. Nice clean room with TV for a really good rate. My kids particularly loved the child friendly environment and the pool table and games room. This is not your average h
English B&B and the walks nearby are fantastic.

What was not so bad....the weather, snowdonia can be wet at Xmas it turns out !

If you have kids and want to explore this lovely part of Wales you should definitely consider Swallow Falls.

“Outdated and in need of deep cleaning and maintenance”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

The room had been painted quite recently which looked OK but the furniture was probably OK in the 70s / 80s. The taps in the ensuite were very loose in the sink so that you had to hold the body of both taps so that you could turn them on or off.
The carpets on the stairs etc were vacuumed every day but they were very grubby and needed replacing or a very deep clean.
This was reflected in the room where the day to day cleaning was obviously done but a deeper clean was needed.
The 'tavern' was used for breakfast and again, this was very outdated.
We paid half price at GBP50 as it was mid week in the winter. I wasn't too happy with this but I would have been extremely upset if we had paid full price.
Having said that, the staff were friendly and helpful and breakfast was good but, overall, we would not even consider going back.

“New Year Delight”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

Having waved goodbye to London my husband, daughter (11), son (5) and I set off to North Wales for a quieter New Year and what a great time we all had.
After a long drive we finally arrived and a were greeted by a charming lady (the owners wife) who made us feel instantly welcome. She showed us to our spacious family room and to our delight the room was warm and inviting with tea/coffee making facillities availiable and a sofa and coffee table. The room was modern, clean and the bed made up with chrisp white cotton sheets; much to my delight. The children were happy too at the sight of a large flat screen TV adorning the wall.
We went to pub located at the hotel for dinner that evening and were served by helpful staff who were kind to our children thus making us all feel welcome.
The food we ordered arrived freshly made and we ate like kings. The food was consistantly good for the duration of our stay with the staff accomodating our fussy children's needs.
After a good nights sleep and fuelled on a full Welsh breakfast we headed out behind the hotel for a walk in the beautiful surrounding woodland and also we made a vist to the adjacent waterfall.........stunning!
We left the hotel three days later feeling rested and we look forward to coming back.
This hotel is relaxed, friendly and good value for money.

“Excellent time”

We stayed for New Year at Swallow Falls and had a fab time, the staff were lovely! We would really recommend this hotel and would stay again. The rooms were a very good standard and very clean. There is lots to do to keep children entertained -park, table tennis, pool table. Being just across the road from The Swallow Falls this is a excellant location to view swallow falls and explore the surrounding area.
