“Excellent for visiting Snowdonia in comfort”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

Stayed for a long weekend with my wife and son. I've been visiting Snowdonia for over 30 years for walking trips and almost always camp, so a hotel stay was a major change for me.

We had a lodge-style family room. It was quiet, clean and spacious.

Found the 'early-bird' restaurant deals to be good value so ate at the hotel every night. Swimming pool / jacuzzi was small but fine for relaxing after a days walking.

Reception staff were very friendly and helpful.

Overall a good experience.

Room Tip: Lodges are good

Thank you for your taking the time to write such a positive review of the hotel and glad to hear that we offered a change from camping.

I am really happy that you enjoyed the restaurant having eaten there every night during your stay and also took advantage of relaxing by the pool area after a day in the mountains.....

Thank you again and we look forward to welcoming you back again soon.

“Don't stay in the winter if you like watching lots of Freeview channels”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

Stayed here in January this year, and found out that even in the luxury lodges they only have Freeview on the TV with just 3 extra digital channels on top of Channels 1-5.

There is not a lot to do in the night time in Snowdonia, so we like to watch TV, and my mother and me would have really appreciated knowing before we booked, that they didn't receive the amount of channels that we get in Cheshire. When quoted at 112 pounds a night for a luxury lodge, you would expect Sky TV for that money.

If you're not into your TV, it's an alright place to stay, and the spa facilities are ok.

Thank you for taking your time to write a review. Freeview channels vary depending on region and although we do not receive as many channels as other regions each room has 16 channels and additional 13 radio channels.

I am in the process of putting the information on our website to avoid guests being dissapointed to find that there are not as many channels in their room as they receive at home.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention.

“Lovely stay over New Year”

After staying at the Stables Lodge for three nights we stayed at the Waterloo for two nights in one of the chalets with our two children, aged 9 and 11. The arrangement was very good as they had their own room (we had a separate bedroom and they slept in a lounge style room with sofa bed easily converted into a bed). The decoration was modern and comfortable even though the chalets look a bit miserable from the outside. We also really liked the pool and spa facilities, the gym also looks good even though we did not use it. We had a bit of a struggle with the TV (the remote did not work) and the WiFi is not brilliant. No complaints about the breakfast, we also had an evening meal which was good quality, just a little pricey (but no more than most of the other restaurants in the area). Betws y Coed we thoroughly enjoyed, even though it rained non stop!

“Ok, but could have been better.”

Stayed B&B in one of the lodges separate from the hotel. Clean, comfortable and warm, but clanking water pipes after using water, wi-fi connected outside room but not inside, strange tv remote with no control of sub titles etc. Buffet style breakfast but items were running out 30 mins before closing. We, and others had to wait for more to come from the kitchen. Plenty of parking. Easy walk to everything in Betws.

“Not bad for a base to explore”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2011

Stayed in one of the lodge rooms detached from the main hotel, the room was spacious and bright although it would have benefited from a good dusting. breakfast was O.k but hot buffet breakfasts do not work for me I like mine cooked to order (sorry but fried eggs do not keep well on a buffet). staff where friendly and the night porter who also tended bar was a great source of local info.

Not bad place if your hear to explore the area, but if you plan on spending time in the hotel not so good

Room Tip: Lodge rooms are large
