“dont go!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 November 2010

decided to stay here after many declining years at the saracens head, only to find out the saracens owners have now got this hotel as well.

so. no t.v no bulbs in any bedsite lights (in fact no lampshades). no glass in some window panes, and a chef who looks like he has just come up from the mines.

This stay was so bad ,we booked out (in a hurry) and unfortunatley left some things behind which have not been returned.

STAY AWAY!!!!!!!

“Basic, but clean cheapest in area by a long way, Any port in a storm”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 October 2010

We were meant to be camping in Wales, however under torrential rain we gave up. We wanted somewhere basic and cheap to stay. This place fit the bill pretty well. There were no mod cons, however the room was clean and we were so glad to be out of the rain. the place was very quiet and we were pretty much allowed to choose our room. It's a rabbit warren of corridors, with rooms everywhere. Our room was very dated, and was straight out of the 1970s. It is a long time since i have seen carpeted walls and a turquoise bathroom suite this took me back to my childhood. We were the only people in the pub and the land lord kept serving us till quite late on. This place needs a refurb both pub and room wise, but as mentioned was cheap and cheerful, and when there's so much to do in the area you don't want to spend it in the room anyhow.

“in serious need of updating and cleaning”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 June 2010

Cheap place to stay but it was very basic (more like a Youth Hostel), other than towels, the room had no extras (no toiletries, hair drier, tv etc, which we all take for granted these days) It didn't even have knobs on the wardrobes. We did not eat there as the place looked dirty and smelt strongly of smoke, we ate at the Royal Goat, which had lovely food. There was a curfew of 11pm and our bed was the noisiest most uncomfortable bed, we have ever slept in (fortunately there were no other guests underneath us to be disturbed). Location is outstanding, but would not return to this hotel unless a complete revamp has happened. This is in stark contrast to all the other pubs, hotels and B&B's in the village who are fully booked and full with diners in the evenings, in fact that says it all.

“Dog friendly but lacking any atmosphere.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 July 2009

Booked the Prince Llewelyn as it allowed dogs, overall the hotel is very very dated but clean and for £27 a night for B & B you are getting a pretty good deal. There is limited choice of drinks at reasonable prices, however the pub opposite (Taronnen ?) is much nicer in terms of atmosphere and drinks choice and the food also is of a good quality (maybe not so for dessert).
The Prince Llewelyn would benefit from some updating and a bit of atmosphere in the bar - otherwise a great place for an overnight dog friendly stop.

“Quirky rooms”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 November 2007

The Prince llewelyn Hotel sounds quite grand but in reality it is a pub that has accomodation and the price reflected this as it was not expensive. We booked and stayed for one night.

The rooms are quirky and a bit of a mish mash but they are clean and the staff friendly.

I would probably try another hotel if i went back to Beddgelert but that is because some of the other hotels looked lovely and not because this one was bad, it wasn't.

The village itself is beautiful. Whilst there you must visit 2 places, Gelerts grave and the ice cream palour(!)
