We spent two nights in July 2011, and found it welcoming and comfortable. The bathroom had been newly refitted and was very presentable. The room was cosily furnished and we slept particularly well - a combination of a comfy bed and the mountain air, I think! We had a room only deal so didn't try the breakfast. We ate in the bar/grill the first evening - it was ok, nothing special, just simple pub-type meals. But good enough for a convenient bite to eat. Beddgelert was a very pleasant place to wander on a summer evening. We may well visit again, and would consider rebooking at The Royal Goat.

We stayed one night and had a nice smallish room which appeared to have recently been done up, including the 'shower' bathroom. The bed was comfortable and we were not disturbed by noise. The cooked breakfast was good, as was the evening meal in the smart Grill room, the duck was very tasty. The residents bar was old and tired but there was a good selection of real ale. The staff were all helpful. Beddgelert is pretty, the location is great and there are a few nice bars/hotels for food and drink.

Beddgelert is a great location and the hotel has an excellent location within the village. The hotel's decor is dated and shabby but it is comfortable. The service was erratic. Some staff went out of their way to be helpful, others were keener on doing what they were doing than on helping a guest. The hotel says that it has WiFi, but it is only in the two public rooms, and even there the signal is erratic. The food is similarly erratic. The full English breakfast was awful, swimming in grease, but the fillet steak was superb, albeit let down by palid and flabbly chips. Althought I travelled alone, I noticed that the hotel was very family friendly. In summary, the hotel's minuses are, just, outweighed by its pluses but it could be a really great hotel if it were updated.

Previous reviews led us to visit for sunday lunch. What we were served was really poor - roast beef was almost impossible to cut, yorkshire puddings were thick and stodgy, small quantity of poorly cooked vegetables. Will not return.
