“The single worst customer service experience in my life”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 August 2011

What a shame...this site could be so good but all of it's positive features are undone by the absolutely horrendous attitude of it's owner. I have never been so angry, offended and felt as belittled as I did after a confrontation with this owner.
On arriving we were told that as an all male group we had to read the terms and conditions of stay because 'noise after 11 wouldn't be tolerated'...fair enough, but at 28 with a child on the way I think that I'm considerate enough to be responsible for my behavior without being judged before the act on the basis of my gender. I had just handed over £30 and felt like I was being told off by a teacher.
Next day after having spent all day touring the local area I was approached not five minutes after my return to be told that my car was parked in the wrong place and that I had to move it because there were bookings coming in. Although I appreciated the gist of the message the same could certainly not be said of the manner in which it was delivered...patronizing and unreasonable (in view of the fact that there was far more space available than campers arriving - space that wasn't subsequently filled by 'bookings'). I wouldn't tolerate being spoken to like that by my nearest and dearest never mind someone who I'd paid £30 for the pleasure of camping. I would have driven home there and then if it hadn't have been so far.
This site could be wonderful but as it is my friends and I shall not be revisiting. The site would benefit from being managed by someone who has the first clue about working in the service industry.

What can I say, I think I am still in shock after visiting this awful site!!!! We arrived 3pm on friday afternoon, I was in my Dads, camper van ; 3 adults & 1 child, we where meeting family on the site, for a family gathering, for a birthday.
A family member had booked us in for 1 night only, as I had to get back.
On arrival my Dad went in to pay, and was told he was'nt allowed to stay for just one night, even though we were told it would be o.k. The owner, then told my Dad, that we had to pay for the following Day, which is the same price, for another night's stay !!!!!!!!!!My Dad paid £50.00 for 1 nights stay, he was also very rudely told that if he did'nt like it he could go, and we would of, if it had'nt been for the family gathering. I was very unhappy with this, so I returned to question them about it .

I was told again, that if I did'nt like, then I should go, they have a visitor day rate of £5.00, so I asked if we could leave in the morning & come back & pay the day rate, I was told very harsely, that I could not do that, so we had to pay £50.00, even though I explained that we would be leaving at 3pm the following day. We were there for just over 24 hours.

I have never been spoken to the way I was here, very very rude owners, that need some training in peoples skills. They are also very greedy, I will never go back, it was the worst camping experience of my life, it was very busy, with everyone cramped in together, cold water to wash my dishes, and day light robbery, if you want my advice, dont go, save yourself some money & go somewhere that does'nt just want your cash, and talk to you like you are rubbish.

i'll not bother you with a wordy review, so here are some good and bad bits about the campsite.

Good:

Position; if you are into watersports then bala lake offers pretty much all you want, with the national whitewater centre about 5 miles away.

Bad:
Position; if you are using it as a base for forays into snowdonia, think again. the A5 is so slow it takes an hour to get to betwsy coed, 20 miles away.
Only one sanitary bin in the ladies toilets.
shower block is unheated.
no soap supplied for washing hands in the toilets
shower block and toilets cleaned sporadically
despite 'no groups' sign, there are many groups of up to 10 people. consequently site is noisy at night.
the 11pm curfew for noise is largely ignored.
the staff hate big tents 'because they kill my grass' as we were told as soon as we arrived..with a big tent
shop is only open from 9am, rather than in time to get stuff for breakfast - plan ahead.
one campers motorhome was gazumped by a winnebago, and the staff would not do anything about it.
there are no designated camping pitches so other tents can get uncomfortably close.
on bank holiday weekend 2008 we had someone pitching at 1am next door to us.
oh, and after rain the pitches become waterlogged.
